Chief Neshuro arrested over maintenance

                                                 Chief Neshuro
Cephas Shava
MWENEZI – Chief
Neshuro, born Rodwell Gudo, was last week arrested yet again for failing to pay
maintenance fees to his former wife, TellZim News has learnt.
The traditional leader was convicted and sentenced to two months in prison suspended on condition that he urgently clears the arrears.
Magistrate Honest Musiiwa admonished the chief and said his social standing made it mandatory for him to lead by example.
He said it was regratable that Chief Chitanga continued to be a bad example in front of his subjects.
The
charge against Gudo is that sometime in March 2018, he was ordered to pay a
monthly maintenance fee of $120 to his ex-wife Rumbidzai Namo for the upkeep of
the three children.
TellZim
News further heard that for the period extending from June 2018 to February
this year, the chief failed to honour his obligation thereby accumulating
arrears amounting to $695.

Earlier last year, the traditional leader, who resides in Makaranga village, was arraigned in the Mwenezi Magistrates’ Court where he was convicted for defaulting on his maintenance obligations to his ex-wife. The chief had defaulted on paying maintenance to Namo and his arrears had
accumulated to $2400.

He was convicted and
sentenced to six months in prison but the sentence was suspended on condition
that he cleared the arrears.

ZNA officers graduate in heritage course

Anymore Magawa

MASVINGO – The
Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) is moving towards imparting greater appreciation
of national heritage among its members by giving the opportunities to acquire
new knowledge.
This
was revealed at a Headquarters 4 Infantry Brigade graduation ceremony where 10
members of the ZNA were given certificates for completing an Executive Guiding Tour
Course in National Heritage.
The   graduation was done in company with the
National Monument and Museums of Zimbabwe (NMMZ).
The
course is meant to equip members of the ZNA with deep understanding of national
history and heritage as well as to instill values of the liberation struggle.
Speaking
at the event, course facilitator and NMMZ southern region director, Lovemore
Mandima said the course was critical in helping soldiers improve their
understanding of national heritage.
“I
am glad to celebrate with our ZNA members who completed this course. I hope
that this team will make a difference in the country using their new knowledge,”
said Mandima.
Team
leader of the course, Sifundiso Ndhlovu said his team was humbled by the
support that NMMZ and ZNA accorded them throughout the duration of training.
“As
graduates, we are overwhelmed by the support we got from NMMZ and ZNA up to
this day. We managed to visit such shrines as Nyadzonia in Zambia and Chimoio in
Mozambique. We also had an opportunity to visit local heritage sites like Dlodlo
and Matobo,” said Ndhlovu.
He
said the course had helped them to appreciate the country’s liberation heritage
which included massacres that were perpetrated by the enemy.
“As
soldiers, we are the last line of defence for our country so we must guard it jealously
against all threats. We must also protect our national heritage sites and pass
the knowledge that we have to the next generation. The next generation must be
able to acknowledge our gallant history of liberation,” Ndhlovu said.

Neromwe, Bota clash over territory

0

Chief Neromwe being installed by Ezra Chadzamira last week

Brighton Chiseva

ZAKA – The
newly revived Neromwe chieftainship which has been fought by Chief Tshovani has
found another foe in the name of Chief Bota who is accusing Neromwe of annexing
his territory.
Chief
Bota, born Charuka Zezai, is accusing Neromwe, born Clemence Madzingo, of
invading Dzoro and Dekeza areas which are under Bota.
Bota
has since written a petition to 15 departments including the President’s Office
and the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing
complaining about the issue.
“This
letter serves to inform you that there is a boundary conflict between Chief
Bota and Chief Neromwe of Chiredzi district. The complainant is Chief Bota who
is accusing Neromwe of invading Dekeza and Dzoro areas which belongs to Chief
Bota under Zaka district,” reads part of the letter
The
letter also indicated that Neromwe tried to invade these areas in 2016 but was
stopped after Bota wrote a petition to the then Provincial Administrator (PA) Felix
Chikovo.
“In
2016 Chief Neromwe attempt (sic) to invade Dzoro and Dekeza but we have managed
to stop these shenanigans through a circular written to Masvingo Provincial
Administrator which (sic) was Mr Felix Chikovo, the late resident Minister
Shuvai Mahofa and Chief’s council president Fortune Charumbira and the dispute
was settled properly.
“This
month Neromwe surprises me (sic) attempt again to invade my boundary using
unscrupulous means which I suspect is a corruption and divide and rule tactic
used by District Development Coordinators of Chiredzi and Zaka districts,” further
reads the letter.
In
the letter Bota also calls for mediated dialogue to resolve the matter before
it gets out of hand.
When
contacted for comment, Chief Bota said he was worried by Neromwe’s actions and
he wanted higher authorities to take action.
“I cannot be told now that Dzoro and Dekeza
area now fall under Neromwe because historically, they have never been under
him. I am surprised by how they now want to take those areas from me when they
have been under Bota chieftaincy since time immemorial,” said Bota.
On
his part Neromwe said he could not comment much on the boundary issue because
he was not responsible for its drawing.
“Bota
was there when the commission established the boundary, so who am I to go
against them. He should ask those who drew the boundary not me,” said Neromwe.
Zaka
District Coodinator (DCC) Ndeya Nyede said there could not be a boundary
dispute between Bota and Neromwe for the two are in two different districts and
the district boundary will separate the two.
“Neromwe
is in Chiredzi while Bota is in Zaka so the two cannot conflict over a district
boundary which was established long ago. None of them can encroach into another
district as they are claiming,” said Nyede.
Masvingo
Provincial Development Coordinator (PDC) Fungai Mbetsa echoed the same
sentiments saying Neromwe will only rule over an area that had previously been
seized by white settlers and willl not go into communal areas.
“Neromwe’s
area is in Chiredzi and covers only the area that was under white settlers and
Bota rules over the communal areas in Zaka. Bota never ruled over people in the
resettlement areas so there cannot be a boundary conflict between the two,”
said Mbetsa.

Bogus Mwenezi CIO rearrested

Cephas Shava
MWENEZI – A 32-year old
Beitbridge-based  tout who in December
last year caused a scene at the Mwenezi Magistrate Court by masquerading as a
member of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and threatening to abduct
prison officers, was last week arrested for threatening – through a telephone
call – to kidnap an employee at a law firm.
After
being convicted of making threats of violence against Mwenezi prison officers
and impersonating a CIO, Rhodes Nyoni went on to threaten Tapiwa Simukai, a
secretary with Mutendi, Mudisi and Shumba Legal Practitioners’ Mwenezi office.
Since
then, Nyoni had been on the run, only to be rearrested by the police last week
after he was spotted at Rutenga growth point.
Appearing
before magistrate Honest Musiiwa for the offence of violating section 88 (2) of
the Postal and Telecommunication Act Chapter 12:05, Nyoni pleaded guilty. He
was sentenced to 30 days behind bars or alternatively pays a fine of $80.
Argued
by prosecutor Caroline Pasipanodya, the State case was that on December 06 last
year, Nyoni sent an audio message to Simukai vowing to kidnap and severely
assault him after accusing the law firm of mishandling a case involving his
in-law.
Last
year, Nyoni got into trouble with the law after he approached prison officers who
were taking the in-law to jail and tried to negotiate favourable treatment on
the prisoner’s behalf.
When
his request was turned down, Nyoni who then claimed to be a CIO agent
threatened prison guards with abduction.

Father kills baby ‘for making noise’

0

Tendai Mange
Bikita– A one-year-old
baby recently died after suffering from injuries sustained three months back
when his father strangled and slapped him all over the body for making noise.
TellZim
News learnt that, sometime in April this year, Clemency Gurwe of Kanjera
village Chief Mazungunye was sitting with his wife, Mitchell Manyangadze in
their house at night when the little boy started crying.
Gurwe
lifted the baby with one hand and started slapping and strangling him until the
boy started bleeding from the nose.
Manyangadze
wiped the blood from the boy’s nose and went to bed.
The
following morning, Manyangadze went to the clinic with the baby where she was
advised to report the case to the police.
Gurwe
was arrested and was kept on remand until July 26 for attempted murder while
the child was referred to Silveira Hospital where he was admitted.
The
baby was further referred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he was
discharged days later and put on weekly reviews.
The
little boy died on July 07 and Gurwe is now facing murder charges.
Masvingo
provincial police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the
incident.
“We
confirm that we received that case and investigations are still under progress,”
said Mazula.

Professor Magwa hails Tugwane High

Professor Magwa award
Courage Dutiro
Founding
Reformed Church University (RCU) vice chancellor Professor Wiseman Magwa has hailed
Tugwane High School for organising a careers day for its pupils and other local
school saying the event was an eye-opener to pupils.
Speaking
after a careers day programme held at Tugwane High School in Masvingo South,
Professor Magwa, who is now the acting director of the Midlands State
University (MSU) Language Institute (MSULI) revealed that careers day programmes
were critical in helping pupils choose the right career paths.
“Exhibitions
like careers day are important and should be held regularly in schools because
they open the minds and eyes of our pupils to know about many other professions
other than being a teacher, policemen or a solider.
“I
am glad that 22 organisations that are here gave pupils insights into various
careers options available,” Magwa said.
The
decorated scholar, who has more than 100 publications to his name, donated some
of his books to schools and local community leaders who were present.
He
went on to launch the Professor Magwa Award for Best Shona Pupil at all levels
at Tugwane High School and Garai Primary School where he did his primary
school.
At
the event, pupils had the opportunity to come face to face with people in
various respectable professions and company representatives who shared
information on recruitment processes as well as qualifications required for
specific programmes and opportunities.
Tugwane
High School head boy Heinrick Milanzi said pupils were happy that they had been
given an opportunity to meet people who matter on the job market.
“We
want to thank our school head and all the staff for organising this day for us.
We are now equipped with information concerning the qualifications required for
one to qualify for certain opportunities. We learnt a lot,” said Milanzi.
Tugwane
High School head Robinson Matsilele said the careers day had played a pivotal
role in giving pupils direction and encouragement.
“When
the District Schools Inspector (DSI) informed us that schools are now able to
organise their careers day in their zones, we decided to act. Children need to
be given direction especially at a time like this when the economy is difficult,”
said Matsilele.
The
event was attended by representatives from organisations including TellZim News,
Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), Masvingo Teachers’ College, Masvingo Polytechnic,
Masvingo City Council, Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), Pick n Pay and Environmental
Management Agency (Ema).

Gweru Council workers threaten strike over ‘low’ wages

0

                                                      Gweru mayor Josiah Makombe
Tinaani Nyabereka
Gweru
City Council workers on Monday
threatened to go on strike soon if their demands for urgent salary adjustments
are not met, TellZim News can report.
The
workers are demanding an 80 percent salary increment or more, arguing that the
inflationary economic environment has eroded their buying power.
Speaking
at an engagement meeting with members, Zimbabwe Urban Councils Workers Union
(ZUCWU) secretary general Kudakwashe Munengiwa said he hoped council will
fulfil its promise to adjust workers’ salaries.
“We
took our issue to the negotiation table with the relevant authorities and they
told us we need to wait for the approval of a supplementary budget by the Ministry
of Local Governance.  So we asked while
we wait for the budget, can’t we be offered something for the time being so
that we can cater for our families?
“I
am happy because we have agreed on this issue together. The war here is not
between us and any councillor or management member. The fight is between us and
hunger. When our hunger issue is sorted first, other issues that need further
engagement will then follow,” said Munengiwa.
ZUWCU
branch secretary Ambrose Hwande said council was supposed to put forward an
alternative wage proposal on the negotiation table rather than try to bargain
on nothing.
“Council
should put something on the negotiation table so that we can see if we will
agree to it or not. It seems they have completely nothing to offer,” said
Hwande.
He
said other local authorities were giving their workers increments before the
approval of supplementary budgets.
“Some
local authorities are giving their workers increments already so we don’t know why
Gweru wants to hide behind that supplementary budget thing.
“We
have decided to take other measures because they were proposing to come to us on
30 August but how will we cope for that long? We have agreed to continue to
meet as labour and if council fails to give something satisfactory, we will
resort to other measures,” said Munengiwa.
A
council worker who refused to be named said council was also supposed to
address the issue of salary grading as worker were being paid using an
unjustified system.
“The
gap between grade 7 and 8 is big and we need them to deal with it because it’s
affecting us. Let’s compile petitions in our different working sectors as this
can help us because the difference gives a gap of $700-$800 dollars between
salaries,” said the employee.
Residents
fear a calamity should workers go on strike in a city which is already
grappling with arguably its worst service delivery record.

Masvingo Teachers’ College postpones graduation ceremony

Gondongwe
Masvingo Teachers’ College has postponed its 35th
graduation ceremony which initially had been scheduled for August 09, 2019.
The graduation ceremony will now be held the following
day, August 10, 2019.
The graduation ceremony was postponed in line with
an unclear directive from The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education.
When contacted for comment, Masvingo Teachers’
College principal Benson Mutambudzi confirmed the postponement but could not
shed more light.
“The date has changed yes, but the programme remains
the same. The programme changed due to a directive from the ministry,” said
Mutambudzi.

Killer Zivhu, stop it!

Mapombi wants to be schooled here
kuti zvinombofamba seiko kuti a person who cannot even construct a simple
complete English, or even Shona sentence anzi dhokotera (Dr)? To be honest, I
really don’t understand it. Professor Jonso once threatened to shut down all
these bogus institutions which doll out honorary doctorates even to Grade 7
dropouts saying vari kuchepesa doctorate. Mapombi thought Prof Jonso was insane
but ndava kuzvionera kuti wairevesa sorobhangu uya. We cannot have someone who
can hardly construct a simple complete, falwless sentence being called Dhokota
(PhD).
Mapombi would like to warn Killer
Zivhu the MP for Chivi South a bit. I know the guy is so arrogant that he will
not dare listen to hear from a poor woman like Mapombi even if I talk sense
because his backward argument is always futseki ndine mari dzangu iwe hauna
kana cent uri shuro kkkkkkkkkk. As if life is all about money. Murombo munhu
shamwari haavigwe asina kupfeka.
The Chivi South MP is said to be
hardworking but Mapombi does not want to get involved in this debate otherwise
I will be attempted to say the truth that I know. Zivhu is representing people
of Chivi South, therefore, his behaviour on public spaces should be a
reflection of the people he represents. The MP needs to be taught two things;
the first one being how to control his temper which he often defends by telling
people kuti futseki hauna mari iwe uri murombo and stuff. The second one is to
try and use Rurimi rwaAmai when communicating on social media. The whole idea
of communicating is kuti tinzwisisane and the best way is using chiKaranga chedu
chatajaira.
We cannot have a whole MP anotaura
zvinyadzi paFacebook and Twitter zvakadaro. That’s taboo. Some of the words are
unprintable zvekuti unoshaya kuti ndiMP ari kutaura izvi here uyu. Ukaonawo
iniwo zvangu ndonyara kutaurawo mashoko akadaro kuzoti munhu anokudzwa
neConstituency yese? Haa tinyarewo Killer shamwari. Zvawadaro watokura Zivhu;
representing the whole constituency needs someone anoshandisa mutauro
unoremekedza kwete kungotaura zvinyadzi. At one point, Zivhu waitukana naTemba
Mliswa on Twitter using unprintable words. Haa chokwadi vane nhamo vagari
vekwaChivi. Mapombi is prepared kutukwa kunzi futseki hauna mari uri murombo
shuro yemunhu I don’t care. It’s true that I don’t have money but at least I
know how to behave. I have my dignity.
Then Temba Mliswa gave Zivhu some
free advice which I think Zivhu should take serious – hanzi it’s also allowed
to tweet in Shona. Kkkkkkkk at first I thought Mliswa was crazy but after
reading Zivhu’s tweet which rhymed like a Zimdancehall chant haaa ndakangotiwo
ko zvinodii kungotaura neShona nhai vakomana. Just say what you want in Shona
ndoinotonyanyo nzwisiswa nevanhu vekwaChivi uko. Mapombi always argues that
English cannot be used as measurement for one’s intelligence but ummm zvimwe
zvinozonyanya vakomana. Anyone who doubts what I am saying just go on Twitter
uzvionere then tag @Mapombi in your comment ndigonzwawo kuti munozviona sei.
But I hear some people saying Dr
Zivhu – is he really a doctor? Can someone help me here; Is Zivhu really a
doctor (PhD)? After seeing his tweets and rants on Facebook I then developed an
interest in finding out kuti hudhokotera hwavo vakahuitira kupi. It’s an
honorary doctorate from a not so reputable institute where he paid around US$5
000 for him to graduate. Kkkkkkk that is a lot of money for some of us vana
Mapombi who survive on rotten bananas and maputi. Killer shamwari shoko harivhikwe
kana une zheve dzekuhwa wahwa!
By the way, Zivhu is touted as
one of hardworking MPs. Kkkkkkk I wish Mahofa Shuvai was still alive aikuudzai
zvakawanda pamusoro pemukomana uyu. Mapombi heard Mahofa’s healthy deteriorated
sharply after adonha kumba kwaZivhu uko achisungiririswa madhongi nemombe some
reflectors hanzi dzisatsikwa nemota along Masvingo – Beitbridge highway. The
project never took off since then and only last week Mapombi saw some pictures
Zivhu doing the same thing kusungira mombe nemadhongi ma reflectors. Just few
donkeys and cattle after all. I wonder what kind of project which has taken
more than three years now ichingoitwa but not even 1000 mombe zvadzo dzava nema
reflector maChivi.
There was also village
ZimAsset which Zivhu attempted at his homestead in Chivi. Kkkkkkk Mapombi
remembers very well Zivhu achinyandurana with one of his Facebook friends
audzwa kuti zvimavise (watermelons) zvauri kuita pamba pako hazvina dhiri.
Kkkkkkk Mapombi can tell you pakaita chimoto and things will always end in the
same manner yekuti hauna mari uri shuro futseki. What Zivhu called village
ZimAsset was not really a village thing – it was his home projects where he
even constructed fish ponds vanhu vamu village vachiuya vachitenga hove kumba
kwake. They were income-generating projects for himself.
But of course, he
enjoyed very good relationship with the media so even if he sneezes, the Harare
journos will write stories kuti Zivhu wahotsira nhasi. By the way, Mapombi
would like to ask Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira if Zivhu
delivered the 30 000 bricks he pledged for the victims of Cyclone Idai in
Bikita? Zvakauya here zvidhina zviya nhai Chitova? How about those unfinished
projects he pledged to undertake in Chivi way before he became MP zvava papi
nhai Madyira tibatsireiwo. Some of us cannot say much about all these
unfulfilled and uncompleted projects because tingatukwa nezvinyadzi tikazvirega
uye kuudzwa kuti futseki vanhu vasina mari munonetsa mhani kkkkkkk. But killer
so ka!
Ayway, enough of
Killer otherwise he will kill us with broken English. Mapombi heard the cabinet
said no to civil partnership – thank you Zanu PF Cdes for at least being
reasonable for once. We cannot have these divorcees ruin our cultures
takatarisa. Mapombi will not talk of our VPs because we all know Mohadi
watambudzwa naTambudzani ukuwo taingonzwa kuti Kedha wairohwa zvakaipisisa
naJosirini. And we all know that they all have smallhouses including scarfmore
so zvekuresverwa tsika dzedu hatidi imi varume imi. I don’t think even Mphoko
would want civil partnership to happen. In many countries civil partnership is
between people of the same sex manje muno zvatanga toda kuitirwa zvakaoma.
Chete kana leadership yakazara nema smallhouses and broken marriages what else
can one expects. Thus why Mapombi wanted Mphoko to remain in power. Mphoko
respects his wife so much that he demanded to stay in hotel for two years
because madam vakanga varamba kugara mudzimba dzese dzavaipiwa muHarare hanzi
dzakashata kkkkkkkbut zvinomboita Zanu PF so ka mahwani chaiwo. By the way
where is Rugeje?  Kkk Zanu PF chiwororo
chokwadi. Anyway let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch otherwise I
will be accused of corruption. Iyo ZACC yanetsa vakomana. Who is next to be
arrested? Kkkk.
Mboko imboko!

Zanu PF Masvingo youth league boss assaulted at party meeting

0

                                       Munyoro with President Mnangagwa

Munyoro accused of bedding many female league members

Diana Gondongwe
Knives are out against Zanu PF Masvingo youth league boss Brian Munyoro who was last week confronted by a group of local and Harare-based youths who accused him of corruption, sexual abuse and personalising party property.
Zanu PF national youth league political commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu led a group of Zanu PF youths from Harare for an outreach in Masvingo.
The outreach was met with little success after Munyoro reportedly snubbed the meetings in the wards and failed to mobilise party supporters to attend as a way of sabotaging Tsenengamu’s work.
Sources said during one of the meetings at Roger Howman Training Centre, some youths seized Munyoro’s car keys and cell phones while others beat him up.
TellZim News established that the some members of the Masvingo provincial youth league are unhappy with Munyoro’s leadership but no one had the guts to stand up to him until they formed an alliance with the visiting Harare youths to humiliate him.
When contacted for comment, Munyoro said the youths who demonstrated against him were just jealous and are fabricating stories to try and soil his name.
“It all happened in full glare of our leadership and they are all aware of what happened. I now wait to hear from them on the course of action to be taken against the culprits.
“They are just people who are jealous of my life and will do anything to soil my name. I have not done anything wrong but I have remained focused in supporting and building our party even during the time when we were vilified for being Lacoste members,” said Munyoro.
Youths who spoke to TellZim News accused Munyoro of being a sexual predator who abused women under his ranks.
“We want him to go and we will not rest until he is send packing. We want leadership which is exemplary not what we are seeing in Munyoro.
“He has bedded many women under his rank by abusing his powers and the car which the party gave him. Last week in Chiredzi he tried the same tricks on one of the ladies but he was turned down. He then tried to force himself on the lady but he failed.
“He uses the party vehicle as his bedroom and that must stop. The vehicle he drives belongs to the party yet he personalises it. We heard a lot of reports about him and we decided to act because the youth here are afraid of him,” said one youth from Harare.
The youth league accuses Munyoro of stealing over 3 000 litres of fuel which had been donated for party programmes.
“Masvingo got 4 000 litres of fuel to do party programmes and Munyoro converted 3 000 litres to personal use and declared only 1 000 litres,” claims one youth.
Other sources said Munyoro was dictatorial in his leadership approach, accusing him of stripping other league leaders of their powers.
“He does everything himself. He is now the chairperson, the treasurer, the spokesperson and the commissar of the whole province. He personalises power and all other elected members have been rendered irrelevant. He is also abusing his power to sleep with all the girls,” complained a source.
Another youth league member, however, defended Munyoro saying the fight was simply a manifestation of factionalism in the youth league.
“There are bigger divisions in the league and Munyoro is just a victim. They are jealousy of his success and the big car he is driving?” said the member.
Zanu PF national youth league boss Pupurai Togarepi could not be reached for comment as his mobile went unanswered.
