Is Morgan Tsvangirai another dictator in the making?

0

Vanhu vaya vatanga! Mapombi has said it several times that Marujata ndiye ari kutonga nyika ino muchiramba manje chionai zvava kuitika. Chinhoyi has so many histories from the liberation struggle – the famous Chinhoyi battle, diesel that oozes from the rocks; kkkkkkk is there anyone who still remember kasong kekuti ‘Paita dhiziri paChinhoyi’; and obviously to the recent ranting by Dr Amai during the President’s youth interface rally.
Vakomana murume mukuru kuitwa sekacheche; ‘Iwe George, George kkkkkkk George, George! Ha-a nemiwo mukoma George Charamba munozozvinyanyawo futi kuita senge Mnangagwa and Team Lacoste factions are the only ones with a right to the State-controlled media. Ko kunyarawo zvodii? At least Grace warned you that you are and you will never be senior to all the ministers including Tyson chaiye.
But it seems like Mnangagwa will lose the battle to succeed Mugabe – it’s now a Zezurus affair with Dr Sydney Sekeramayi’s chances getting better by each passing day. Again, it’s no longer a secret that Dr Amai and Mnangagwa have crossed path and they now hardly see eye to eye.
Of course she may not succeed to influence Mnangagwa’s expulsion but certainly, the vice president will be pruned zvekuti anosara asina kana wekumhoresa chaiko maAllies ese adzingwa.
As you may know that Dr Amai is not that diplomatic or ndo diplomacy dzacho handizoziviwo hangu – havarove imbwe vakaviga mupinyi vanoirovera payaitira tsvina ipapo. She gave a hint in Chinhoyi that vaMnangagwa taimbowirirana kare asi iyezvino handichazivi; hanzi it’s not about the number of years that you have been with President Mugabe but what matters the most is what you do behind his back. Ichoo!
And Mugabe, as usual, always jumps to the defence of his lovely wife chero zvikaita sei. Hanzi vana Mutsvangwa vari kutaurisa kudai havasivo pane vakuru vanovatuma – and of course that was referring to Mnangagwa.  Mugabe also gave a hint that he is likely not going to renew some services cheifs’ contracts especially those supporting Mnangagwa to take over from him. Hameno vana Chiwenga ikoko.
But Mapombi really wonders kuti vaMugabe vanoda kudii chaizvo nenyika ino. Mukati havasati vaguta kudya nekutonga zvese imi kubva kare kare kuya vazhinji venyu vasati vazvarwa?  More than three decades at the helm and one still wants some more?  He is not even moved by the current economic crisis, not at all. Ko mukatinyarawo zvodiiko nhai Gushungo? It’s high time you pass on the button to whoever wamada at least there should be change of face in the leadership kuda isu varombo tingaita upeny hwuri nani.
Mapombi really regrets everything that has to do with independence – ndopakatangira nhamo yangu yese chero kuroorwa chaiko ndakashaya wo akandida nekuda kwenhamo. It’s not easy to stay at filthy Dr Grace Mugabe Market Centre eating rotten bananas and maputi every day.  Kudzidza ndakadzidzawo chose I completed all the levels and even went to an expensive university but dai ndakaziva vabereki vangu vakarega kutengesa mombe dzavo ndichienda kuchikoro maybe today I would be somewhere doing cattle ranching project kwedu kwaChirimudombo uko.
Anyway, it seems there is no hope for a better future. Mapombi used to think that Morgan Tsvangirai would do better but I’m sure he is another dictator in the making. Mark my words. Chamatama wenyu uya, aa-ah by the way achiri chamatama here because it appears like haasisina matama makuru these days? Whether he is still chamatama or not the truth is that Morgiza has the potential to be a dictator pamwe Gushungo vakatenge nani.
Honestly, how can he ban primary elections? What are the chances that candidates will reach consensus? Tsvangirai would want to handpick his preferred candidates and claim that there was consensus?
The claims that primary elections will divide voters are nonsensical. Handpicking candidates will even divide voters worse than primaries. After all it’s a democratic process therefore people should be allowed to choose a candidate of their own choice.
Cde Tsvangirai please wake up! Wake up! Wake up! We do not want dictators in this country – let people exercise their right to elect munhu wavanoda not zvenyu zvekuda kuti vane mari muparty ndovanopinda, I bet munodyiwa rakacheka nyika mozoti Zanu PF inobiririra. Tsvangirai chinja iwe maitiro ako echi dictator ayo, hezvoko bwaaa. Mazvinzwa Save. Shoko harivhikwi zvava zvenyu kufuga kana kuwarira.
Mapombi would like to make it clear that if Tsvangirai continues with his plan to impose candidates then he will lose my vote, zvitori nani kuvhotera sekuru than kuisazve another potential dictator. Zvasiyanei nekuvhotera a 94 year-old when voting for another dictator. That is why Mapombi always says kudzidzawo kwakanaka dzimwe dzenguva especially when you want to be a leader nekuti zvimwe zvatoona haaaya. Anyway, I rest my case.
It’s almost lunch time guys let me go ndindokanga hangu maputi angu for lunch. Before I go I heard Mphoko is in cloud nine after Dr Amai praised him kuChinhoyi uko hanzi tinowirirana zvikuru. Hanzi vari kungofamba vachiti handiti makanzwaka Dr Amai vachizvitaurira vega kuti tinowirirana hahahahahahaha mboko imboko!mapombi

ZimPF Manicaland chair joins NPP

Murisa (in red jacket) shakes hands with Dzimunya after announcing his defection

MUTARE – The Agrippa Mutambara-led Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) has suffered a major blow in Manicaland after some of its members dumped the party and joined Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP).
Fungai Murisa from Makoni Central, who became ZimPF’s provincial chairperson following Mujuru’s split with ZimPF elders Rugare Gumbo and Didymus Mutasa, boldly announced his departure from ZimPF with other founding members of the party.
“After serious considerations, l have decided to join Mujuru together with other 38 members in many districts.
“I was ZimPF provincial chair for Manicaland for two months after we split from elders Dymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo,
“The decision to leave the ZimPF chairmanship comes after realising that Mujuru is a better brand than Mutambara. After going through Mutambara’s CV, I realised that it was an empty CV hence my choice to go back to Mujuru.
“When we were campaigning for ZimPF, we used to lie to the people that Dr Mujuru was still with us because we had realised that Manicaland likes her more than it likes Mutambara,” said Murisa.
NPP Manicaland spokesperson Norman Mbizi confirmed the arrival of new members from ZimPF.
“As we speak, Murisa and others have confirmed they are now full time NPP members, we are happy to inform you that our prodigal brothers and sisters are back.
“Our provincial leader Garikai Dzimunya officially welcomed them last week. We want them to feel at home because NPP has been their real home all along. They are welcome and they should feel free to participate in efforts to attain true independence for Zimbabwe,” said Mbizi.
ZimPF interim secretary general Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, however, said he had not yet received the information regarding the defections.
“I am not aware of that l have not received the information that some our members have joined NPP,” said Bhasikiti.local, politics

MDC-T explodes in Masvingo

… faction members assault each other

Upenyu Chaota

MASVINGO – It appears factionalism in the province is not peculiar to the ruling Zanu PF party after all, with the main opposition MDC-T busy fighting the same demon within its own ranks.
At a ward rally at Mucheke Hall last week, one Ruth Machipisa earned herself some warm claps after she had expressed her support for former Masvingo Urban legislator Tongai Matutu, a move which enraged fellow party supporters fighting for national executive member Takanayi Mureyi.
Mureyi and Matutu’s names have been thrown around in discussions over the most suitable candidate to represent the party in Masvingo Urban constituency in the 2018 elections.
Tensions flared up at the combined ward 1 and ward 2 rally which was supposed to be chaired by Mureyi and provincial chairperson James Gumbi.
Mureyi, however, did not show up as he was said to be engaged in another meeting in Bikita district and Gumbi arrived very late.
The rally was thrown into disarray as people started walking out of the venue when they realised that the guest speakers were no longer coming.
The crowd could be heard chanting pro-Mureyi slogans while denigrating Matutu until Machipisa, who is from ward 4, shouted “Mureyi haapindi”. Visibly drunk youths quickly swarmed around her, tossed her around and beat her up.
The youths accused Machipisa of being a Matutu lackey sent to create divisions, shouting that they wanted her to go back and tell Matutu that ‘your plan has backfired.’
The youths only backed off after realising that Gumbi, who had just arrived, was still around but this did not stop the ‘Mureyi haapindi’ shouts.
“It is of no use to fight among ourselves when the real enemy is out there. We should work together and bring unity in the party and make sure that president Tsvangirai wins in 2018.
“People should also mind what they say about their leaders in public. The youth are there to protect the party and instil discipline,” Gumbi pleaded with the rowdy youths.
A provincial executive member said the rivalry between Matutu and Mureyi was likely to explode soon since the two were very prominent and powerful people in the party.
“Mureyi splashes money to get acceptance but Matutu is just a people’s darling. Mureyi knows he cannot win against Matutu in a fair race hence he is trying to have the entire executive in his pockets so that they can endorse him.
“Right now he is the one financing party programmes but Matutu is more popular with the grass roots,” said the provincial executive member.
When contacted for comment Matutu said people should not engage  in violent behaviour in his name.
“I’m surprised that people fight in my name yet I haven’t made myself available to contest. Violence is bad because it does not set us apart from Zanu PF,” Matutu said, adding that he will make a decision on wether to contest the Masvingo Urban seat in due course.
Mureyi too was incensed by the intra-political violence, saying there was no point for fellow party members to fight over anything.
“That kind of immaturity is what’s setting our country back and allowing  Zanu PF to do as it pleases. Whether I will contest the seat or not is no reason to fight. I  don’t have a problem with Matutu or anybody for that matter so why would somebody want to fight in my name?” said Mureyi.politics, topnews

Helen McGhie among best schools, says Perm Sec

MASVINGO – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary Dr Sylia Utete – Masango last week hailed Helen McGhie Government Primary School as one of the best schools she has visited in the country.
Speaking during presentation of the Permanent Secretary’s Merit Award for 2016 to the school on Friday, Dr Utete – Masango said she was pleased by developments at the school.
“This school has made me happy. It is one of the best schools among all the schools I have visited across the country. The support from parents is also overwhelming. I have only seen such support from three schools, one in Harare and the other in Bulawayo.
“The presence of many parents at events like this one testifies to the good working relationship which exists between all stakeholders. Parents do not associate themselves with things they do not understand or things whose direction they do not see,” Dr Utete – Masango said.
She also urged all schools that received the Permanent Secretary’s Award to maintain their standards saying the idea behind the award was to develop schools.
“Recipients of this award should not stop working to develop themselves as I have seen in many scenarios. After being getting the award, schools usually down tools such that a few years later, things take a surprising turn for the worse.
“We say such schools should be pacesetters for those who are yet to attain the honours. There should always be improvements such that learners benefit from the school’s development,” Dr Utete – Masango said.education, topnews

Mwenezi High wins Perm Sec Award

Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango presents a cheque to Mwenezi High School head Cuthbert Chuma.

MWENEZI – The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education permanent secretary Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango last week presented Mwenezi Government High School with the 2016 Permanent Secretary’s Merit Award, the second time the school has won the prestigious accolade.
Mwenezi Government High School first won the award way back in 1985 and it has been a protracted period of hard work which finally resulted in the award returning to the school after more than 30 years.
The award earned the school some government funding to the tune of US$10 000 for the establishment of an ‘e-classroom’ which will be equipped with 45 laptops, a mounted projector as well as an interactive whiteboard.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Utete-Masango challenged all schools to join the race for the award by first creating a conducive learning environment for children in their respective spaces.
“As secretary, it is my expectation that every school is part of this noble race. This is a race we must be working for on a daily basis so that in the end, though we may have one winner, all the schools and all the learners would have won too.
“Every school has a duty to provide, without fail, conducive teaching and learning environments for quality learning outcomes,” Dr Utete-Masango said.
She also said she was happy with how pupils at Mwenezi Government High School had shown an impressive understanding of the new curriculum.
“I am happy with engagements I take with pupils every time I visit schools. Here, I have talked to many students from different classes and they have shown great understanding of the new curriculum. I am confident they will rightly use skills acquired through such learning to sustain themselves,” she said.
Mwenezi Government High School headmaster Cuthbert Chuma said the award was a great milestone in the history of the school.
“The year will go down in history as momentous for Mwenezi Governmet High School as the school was bestowed with the coveted and prestigious Secretary’s Merit Award. The award is a great honour which every school in Zimbabwe aspires to attain but many in their life time may not be able to attain the elusive dream of such recognition.
“The award is a result of teamwork by school stakeholders. Staff and students have worked hard in various disciplines and departments. The School Development Committee (SDC) has done tremendous work at the school. Currently we have a landscaping programme we launched to re-brand the school and it is going on well through the support of these stakeholders,” Chuma said.
In his remarks, Mwenezi High SDC chairperson Pinias Shoko thanked the ministry for honouring the school’s efforts.
“There is no better way of being appreciated than being honoured for the work you are doing for development. I would like to say thank you to our parent ministry for recognising our combined efforts to improve education in Mwenezi,” Shoko said.education, topnews

Rapist father slapped with 20 years jail time

CHIVHU – The 39-year-old man who infamously told the Chivhu Magistrates Court that he had slept with his own daughter because ‘she is too sexy to resist’ was last week given a 20-year jail sentence by the same court.
The man, who cannot be identified to protect the victim, was found guilty of repeatedly raping his daughter by magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni who labelled the crime ‘inhuman’ considering the trust which should underpin the relationship between father and daughter.
The State’s case, as presented by Nicholas Mabvongodze, was that sometime in April 2015, the man asked for sexual favours from his daughter but she turned him down.
The perverted man forced himself into his daughters’ blankets and raped her nonetheless.
The court found him guilty of raping his daughter several more times until September 2016 when the daughter spilled the beans to her aunt with whom she was now living in Norton.
The rapist father had, however, pleaded not guilty to the rape charges, all the while claiming that it was his daughter who had seduced him and he had found it impossible to resist.local

MUTARE – A Rusape man exposed his erect manhood to a young woman who had turned down his sexual advances.
Despite having pleaded innocent, Michael Chigudu (31), of Village 42 Inyathi, was slapped with a US$300 fine after being convicted of indecent assault by provincial magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi.
Chigudu had told the court he was in love with the complainant.
The provincial magistrate gave him a three months jail term with an option to pay a fine.
Appearing for the State, Moblessing Tapfumaneyi told the court that on December 25 2015, at around 20:00 hrs, Chigudu went to the complainant’s homestead and pretended as if he wanted to discuss some issues with her. The complainant opened the door and Chigudu asked her for sexual favours but he was turned down.
The complainant rushed back inside and closed her door but Chigudu forcibly pushed the door and pulled her out.
He then unzipped his trousers and exposed his erect manhood while grabbing the complainant. She screamed and Chigudu released her after dogs started barking at him. She reported the matter to the police and he was arrested.local, top news

Pastor confesses impregnating married woman

… pays woman’s husband in cattle and cash

TellZim Reporter

MWENEZI – A well-known Zion Christian Church (ZCC) pastor, John Mabheja who has lately been embroiled in a sex scandal, has been fined three cows and US$375 by Chief Mawarire’s court after being convicted of adultery and impregnating a married member of his church.
Before the affair came to light, Mabheja, who hails from Pikinini village, was the leader of the church’s congregation at Manyuchi where he met and later preyed on Taruvinga Mabhekedhe’s wife.
Speaking to TellZim News, Chief Mawarire, born Amon Vengo, said the disgraced pastor had sent his younger brothers to stand for him as he is said to have left for South Africa.
“Mabheja sent his younger brothers to stand on his behalf at the trial and they confirmed that he is admitting the charges.
“Taruvinga, who is the complainant from the same village, demanded three beasts and they were given to him. He is however yet to be paid $375 which he also demanded from Mabheja,” said Chief Mawarire.
Chief Mawarire also revealed that Mabhekedhe had made it clear he still loved his wife who is now nursing her love child.
The drama started when Mabhekedhe, who worked in South Africa, returned home and dumped his wife at the pastor’s homestead after he was tipped that his wife had been seeing the pastor and was pregnant with him.
After being dumped at Mabheja’s place, the woman then left for her parents’ place in Chivi but her husband later followed her and decided to sue Mabheja in the traditional court.
Currently, Mabhegedhe is staying with his wife and the love child in their village.local

Chidyamakono team celebrate after winning

. . . 3 teams make it to the semis
. . . Chidyamakono lifts girls’ trophy for record 5th time

Sports Reporter

BINDURA – Masvingo has got talent! Chidyamakono has proven that no other province has more talent than Masvingo after the Chivi-based school scooped the U15 Girls COPA Coca-Cola trophy for the fifth time in a row, while two other teams from the ancient city made it to the semi-finals.
Chidyamakono dismissed hapless Mamunyadza from Manicaland by a goal to nil in the finals to clinch the most prestigious schools trophy at Trojan Mine Stadium in Bindura on Sunday.
In the boys’ category, Gutu High put up a spirited performance and booked their ticket in the semi-finals after holding defending champions Rujeko and Midlands kings, Guinea Fowl, in the group stages.
The boys however lost concentration and conceded a silly goal in the dying minutes of the game to allow Pfupajena to proceed to the finals where they succumbed to a 4-2 defeat in penalties to 10 men Rusununguko High.
Rusunguko and Pfupajena had settled for a one-all draw in regulation time.
Though Gutu High were knocked-out in the semi-finals, Innocent Nyamadyiwa was too good to be ignored, winning the best midfielder of the tournament award as well as making it into the national dream team. Nyamadyiwa received US$100 cash for the award.
The skillful and naturally talented Gidza, as he is popularly known by fellow teammates, also attracted a number of coaches who jostled to offer him a full scholarship.
“I’m disappointed that we failed to reach to the finals; we were punished for complacency in the semi-finals. A number of coaches have approached me and they are offering scholarships but my focus now is to go back and start preparing for next year with my teammates,” said Nyamadyiwa.
It was an all-Masvingo affair in one of the semis when Chidyamakono clashed with Mwenezi High with the later succumbing to a 2-1 defeat in penalty shoot-outs after a nil-all draw in regulation time.
Mwenezi however scooped bronze medals after dismissing Vainona in the third and fourth playoffs.
National Association of Secondary Heads (NASH) head in-charge (soccer) Tranos Mbwirire said Masvingo proved that it is the schools soccer powerhouse in the country.
“Having three teams in the semi-finals out of ten provinces is enough evidence that we have a lot of talent.  Chidyamakono also proved that no team from any other province can match their talent as they lifted the title for the fifth time,” said Mbwirire.
Chidyamakono coach Kundai Muruvi said she was impressed by the girls’ performance.
“It’s easy to win a tournament but never easy to defend the title. We have been successfully defending this title for the past four years and that proves how good we are. We were determined to win the trophy for the fifth time and I am happy the girls did us proud. Our focus now is on defending the title again next year,” said Muruvi.
For the grand prize, Chidyamakono received US$3 500, a trophy and gold medals while Mwenezi High got bronze medals and a cash prize.sport
