TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Eastern Region recently confirmed with TellZim News that they have since reached a decision on the recently abandoned match between Mucheke Pirates and Mutare City Rovers at Mucheke Stadium.
Speaking to TellZim News, Zifa Eastern Region secretary general Wisdom Simba said a committee had finally reached a decision that the match be resumed from the 66th minute at which it was abandoned.
“A Zifa committee has sat and decided that there will be a continuation of the match on a date to be announced. The teams will play the remaining 24 minutes only to cover up for the time that had been left before the final whistle.
“Mucheke Pirates could not be pardoned because they failed to produce required documents resulting in the match starting later than expected. Mutare City Rovers could not be pardoned either as they were found guilty of causing match abandonment,” Simba said.
Mucheke Pirates were leading 2 – 1 before the match was abandoned after the visitors complained of poor lighting as the sun began to set.
Rovers had taken the lead in the first two minutes of the match before Mucheke Pirate’s Gerald Bero and Caleb Masocha scored for the home side in the 11th and 21st minutes respectively.sport

“We are a great city known for our wits, our ear for detail and for making the right noises at the right time. This is what our own Vabvuwi have done and we congratulate them for a wonderful job. It would be even more remarkable if they release more albums per year,” said Fidze.

Ministers and government officials at the launch of IDBZ Clipsham Views stands

Itai Muzondo

MASVINGO – Government has given the thumbs up to the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) for successfully developing the Clipsham Views residential stands to the best of standards.
In partnership with Gorge Safaris and Gorge Holdings, IDBZ turned 205.7 hectares of land into 702 low density residential stands, 16 commercial stands, 24 institutional and 26 service industry stands with access to all services namely water, sewer and roads.
A government delegation led by Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa and which included Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere witnessed the handover of the stands to beneficiaries of the project last week.
Speaking at the event, Chinamasa said he was impressed by the development which he said will contribute to the provision of shelter as a basic need in line with the ZimAsset national policy document.
“I am very happy with the work I have seen here because it makes sure that our people have access to decent accommodation. It is a basic need that one should have a roof above his/her head. This initiative supports government policy of delivering affordable housing as provided for in ZimAsset.
“I urge all economic partners in Zimbabwe to collaborate in this way so that success can come our way. This development demonstrates that local authorities, financial institutions, private sector players, contractors and other stakeholders in the housing sector can collaborate and introduce innovative ways of providing housing to our people,” Chinamasa said.
He said government was prepared to give borrowing powers to councils that bring forward a plan to channel 70 percent of the funds for developmental purposes.
“Once your plan shows that, come, I can give you money even tomorrow. I have seen the beauty of having assets rather than money because money can be blown in no time. I believe my dear colleagues from APEX are seeing this as well so that we come to terms and give them stands so that they can develop themselves as well. Money given as infrastructure is definitely money well spent and I am happy APEX is coming on board,” Chinamasa said.
In his own remarks, Kasukuwere hailed the development and said government will allow only stakeholders of the calibre of IDBZ as well as local authorities to develop land.
“Besides concentrating on services like water and electricity, IDBZ should also think of pitching internet cables as we are now living in a technology-driven world. It shouldn’t be an expense for beneficiaries to acquire such facilities in the near future,” Kasukuwere said.
IDBZ chief executive officer (CEO) Thomas Sakhala said the bank was dedicated to contributing to infrastructural development as that was linked to economic growth.
“There is a strong connection between infrastructural development and economic growth. By lowering transactional costs, easing the flow of information, increasing the quantity and accessibility of basic services and integrating markets into the global economy, we enhance productivity and accelerate economic growth.
“Availability of adequate infrastructure is a catalyst and key success factor in the provision of sustainable and affordable housing by both public sector and private sector players, leading to the reduction of the national housing backlog currently sitting at above a million,” Sakala said.business

CHIVHU – In a combined act of lawlessness, immoral and uncultured behaviour, a Chivhu man had no better means of quenching his insatiable sexual appetite than raping his own blood daughter claiming that she is too sexy and cute to resist.
The 39-year-old father, who resides in Chief Mashayamombe area in Chivhu had the guts to tell the whole honourable court that his daughter was too sexy to resist having sexual intercourse with when he appeared before magistrate Fadzai Mutombeni facing rape charges.
The man, who cannot be identified to protect the victim, made the disturbing confession when he appeared in court facing allegations of raping his own 20-year-old daughter.
“She is the one who started it all; seducing me time after time and considering how sexy she is, I could not resist the chance of having sex with her. It was not a forced thing but something we agreed upon,” he said.
The State, led by Nicholas Mabvongodze, alleged that one night in April 2015, the two, who used to live on their own after the man divorced his wife, had a misunderstanding after the father had asked for sexual favours from her.
The father, nonetheless, got into her daughter’s blankets in the kitchen where she slept and forced her to have sex with him before threatening to kill her should she reveal the offence to anybody.
It is alleged that the abuse continued thereafter until September 2016 when the daughter was taken to Norton to live with her aunt.
It was in Norton that the she told her aunt about her experiences and a report was made to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
In his defence outline before the courts, the father claimed that her daughter seduced him and he could not resist the temptation.
The case was due to continue in the Chivhu Magistrates Court by the time of going to print.local

Junior Driving School introduces Class 3

With this car people living with disabilities can register with Junior Driving school and be their own drivers

…automatic car for people with disabilities

TellZim Reporter

Junior Driving School has done it again! This time with the introduction of Class 3 driving lessons as well as an automatic car meant for people living with disabilities.
This makes Junior Driving School the first driving school in the province to offer lessons for all road traffic vehicles under one roof.
The latest introduction means that for only US$100, one is guaranteed the right to drive any motorcycle, regardless of type and size.
Dubbed the ‘Oxford University’  of driving owing to its unparalleled services and successes, Junior Driving School is inspired to address the driving needs of all people by bringing a one-stop driving shop for the whole southern region.
As recently as mid-2016, the driving school only offered classes 4 and 2 but it went on to raise the bar by introducing Class 1 and now Class 3, all within a short period of time.
Moved by the desire to make everyone their own drivers, Junior Driving School has also introduced the automatic vehicle which is tailor made for people living with disabilities so that they too can drive themselves on the roads.
Junior Driving School director Noah Marima said they were determined to make sure that there remains no unlicenced driver on the country’s roads.
“We started with classes 2 and 4 before upgrading to Class 1 when we bought our bus so the thrust is to make sure that motorists and prospective motorists are given the skills needed for them to drive safely and in accordance with the law.
“We are pleased that we have now managed to respond to our community’s need for Class 3 which deals with training people on how to ride motorcycles,” Marima said.
He said the driving school was proud that it had also responded to calls to accommodate people living with disabilities by making available the automatic vehicle which was tailored to suit their special needs.
“People living with disabilities especially in this part of the country did not have a chance to be their own drivers but that is now a thing of the past. With the new car, they can now come and register with us so that they do not let other people drive them,” said Marima.
In Masvingo, Junior Driving School and others used to share only one test yard which had become congested but Junior Driving has since found its own training yard near the provincial show grounds where its students have amble time to practise without any hassles.
“We have escaped the congestion at the old training yard by securing a piece of land which is exclusively reserved for students of Junior Driving School.
“Our students will have the real road experience because when they drive to the yard, they will be sharing the road with other road users, an experience which improves their experience,” said Marima.
Junior Driving School has also spread its wings to peri-urban areas and growth points of Masvingo where oral lessons are offered to prepare students for their provisional licences.local
