Councillors in Gutu district are set to benefit from a Council-initiated scheme which will see them being allocated stands that will be paid for from as little as US$50 a month.
Council resolved to allocate stands to sitting councillors who will be expected to pay a minimum of $50 from their monthly allowances to foot the cost of the stands.
Meanwhile, councillors have agreed the stands must be serviced before allocation to ensure that in the event of death of beneficiaries, the deceased’s family can continue with developments.
Some of the councillors are however worried that in the event that they are voted out of office in the 2018, they would lose their newly acquired properties.
Assurances have been given on security of ownership for those who maintain a consistent payment record.
The councillors were also told monthly instalments for the stands depend on the size of the stand.news
