…as Garwe takes bootlicking to another level
…Seems he eyes National Commissar post
…Mnanganwa anointed by God

Minister of Local Government and Public Works Garwe recently took bootlicking to another level, telling civil servants in Masvingo to all sing the ‘Vision 2030’ hymn as the agenda was unstoppable and they had no option but to join the bandwagon.
Sources within Zanu PF have said Garwe, who has been on a rampage endorsing the ‘ED 2030’ agenda could be eyeing the Zanu PF National Commissar post as he keeps singing praises to Mnangagwa.
Speaking during the launch of the Government Commonage stands held at Masvingo Polytechnic on January 30, 2025 Garwe said while there were known ‘ForED’ outfits where civil servants were affiliated to, it was time for every single one of them to rally behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid for another term.
“I know we have Teachers ForED, Nurses ForED and all other civil servants but I know some of the civil servants are shy to rise and shine, to speak or be seen endorsing the President.
“It is time for them to start singing from the same hymn sheet with us, because Vision 2030 is unstoppable—it is a reality and it’s better we all join the bandwagon because the President was anointed by God,” Garwe said.
He mocked those who were against the Vision 2030 agenda saying they will soon develop hypertension, adding that the government did not want a situation where it would have to employ more nurses and doctors due to the number of high blood pressure patients.
He went on to say that every Zimbabwean had a mandate to be loyal to Mnangagwa, since it was not an option not to be, adding that those who were against the Vision 2030 agenda were merely wasting their time.
“Mnangagwa is our Moses he was instructed by God in 2017 to become president and develop Zimbabwe without aid from anyone but with the natural resources that the Lord blessed us with. Before Mnangagwa we never knew that minerals like lithium and platinum as well as gas and oil exist in our country.
“No amount of hate speech nor groups formed in this country or outside will stop Vision 2030. We are all Zimbabweans regardless of political persuasion, and our President is none other than Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa,” Garwe said.
He added that Mnangagwa’s leadership by a long shot surpassed that of former President Robert Mugabe, which he said was seen in how Mnangagwa had handled the recent El Nino-induced drought and subsequent food crisis.
“In 2024 this country witnessed a devastating drought, which had never been witnessed in the past 45 years but there was no shop which had no mealie meal, rice or any basic goods and services.
“In 1992 we experienced another drought and we were going to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana to buy mealie meal as there was nothing in the shops and this shows the difference in terms of leadership strategies,” Garwe said.
Garwe applauded the recent ban on United States of America aid to Africa by newly elected President Donald Trump saying those who were in the diaspora should return to Zimbabwe to support Vision 2030.
“I am very happy and grateful to what Donald Trump is doing; he has banned all the aid in Africa, we develop our own country not to be used to turn against your country through aid or funding,” Garwe said.
The Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial chairperson has on several occasions said amending the constitution to allow for a Presidential term extension for Mnangagwa was not only constitutional but democratic, bashing a section of war veterans who recently came out to oppose the bid.
In Masvingo, Garwe called war veteran Blessing Geza a drunkard who had been sent to insult Mnangagwa after being given illicit beer (tumbwa), calling him ‘Cursed’ Geza to loud cheers from the ruling party supporters.
