Zvishavane – League contenders, FC Platinum have progressed to the last four of the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup after beating Triangle FC 1-0 in a tightly contested match at Gibbo Stadium over the weekend.
The game saw both teams struggling with possession as they failed to make any notable advances towards goal, as it was a battle of the midfield. However FC Platinum managed to break the deadlock through Kawashu in the 87th minute.
FC Platinum are slated to repeat the 2014 encounter when they lifted the cup after defeating the then Masimba Dinyero led Harare City FC in Mandava Stadium, this time around they will be facing the team with a different tactician; Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga in the semi finals.
The win at the weekend gave the ‘Pure Platinum’ supporters something to smile about as they are now hoping for a double; that is, Premier League title and the Chibuku Cup.
“I hope we are going to cruise past Harare City, they are not hard to play against, we are going to repeat the 2014 encounter defeating them in the same fashion,” said one confidant fan of FC Platinum.
FC Platinum gaffer, Norman Mapeza is confidant with his team’s performance promising his fans a polished finish to the league and Chibuku Cup.
“FC Platinum are geared up to challenge for any honours this season, as you can see we have improved in almost every aspect, after defeating defending champions Dynamos in the league match and then going past Triangle this time around, I promise our fans more silverware this season,” said Mapeza.sport
