MPANDAWANA – A 21-year-old man from Chikonye village under Chief Chimombe appeared in court facing charges of raping his 13-year-old cousin sister.
The man pleaded guilty to contravening Section 65(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act) Chapter 09:23.
He was remanded in custody to 30 April.
It is the State’s case, as presented by Millicent Azangwe, that on March 14, the accused, who may not be named to protect the victim, called the girl in his bedroom but she refused. He then dragged her inside his room where he tripped her onto the floor, removed her pant and had sexual intercourse with her once without her consent.
After committing the offence, he threatened the child that if she told anyone about the abuse, he would kill her.
The matter came to light when the child’s aunt saw her crying and upon questioning her, the girl revealed the abuse, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.local
