Masvingo Artists Get Flea Markets

Masvingo Family of Artists Association, an organization which was established to improve the welfare of local artists, has acquired flea markets stands for its members.
The association president, Luckson Mutsambwa, confirmed the development saying  the association has entered into an agreement with Masvingo City Council in which the later agreed to offer flea markets stands to Masvingo Family of Artists Association.
“I want to thank Masvingo City Council for the flea market stands they gave us recently. The markets stands are at Chitima, Takawira and Farai. All members of the association will benefit from the project and we hope that the projects will help in income-generating projects.
“ We believe artists should live a decent life just like any other professionals. We will continue to lobby for a better life for artists in the province,” said Mutsambwa.
The association’s chairperson Purazen Jakata also noted that they want to establish a programme that will mentor talent from the grassroots inform of Arts scholarships and are hopeful to acquire residential stands for artists as their careers usually go in vain.
“Our aim is that we want to mentor artists from Masvingo; identify and nurture young talents from the province.
“We also intend to provide scholarships to upcoming artists. We also hope to acquire residential stands for our artists to benefit from their work as more of them usually fail to get a tangible reward from the arts industry”’ said Jakata.
Masvingo Family of Artists Association also provide platform for musicians to showcase their talents at live band shows, dramas and craftsman.Local
