19 Feb 2017 – MWENEZI – Despite accepting all pupils who look for a secondary school place, including those that would not have done so well in their Grade Seven exams, Mwenezi Government High School has exceeded all expectations and achieved an overall 58 percent pass rate in the 2016 ‘O’ Level exams.
The results are a huge improvement for Mwenezi Government High School because in the 2015 ‘O’ Level exams, the school registered a 48 percent pass rate.
Many public schools are grappling with inadequate resources but over the years, Mwenezi Government High School has progressively built a reputation of making the best of the little that is available.
If anything, the results testify to the fact that dedication to hard work, and not the availability of resources alone, is the recipe for a successful academic grooming process.
Mwenezi Government High School head; Mr C Chuma said the school is looking forward to build upon their current successes and elevate the name of Mwenezi Government High School to greater heights.
“We are happy with these results that we worked very hard for. They serve as a motivation for the school to continue striving for even better results that we know can only come through hard work and improving the conditions of learning,” said Chuma.
Of the five pupils who did exceptionally well; the highest was Hlanalani Chauke who wrote 10 subjects and obtained ten As. He was followed by four others with 9 As each, one being a girl.
The headmaster thanked all staff members for working together and playing their respective roles to create the current success story.
“Unlike other schools, we are not selective in our enrolment process; we accommodate everyone. I therefore give credit to all our staff members for this well-deserved success,” said Chuma.education
