New club for Mashava

Mashava – In a bid to promote football following the demise of Gaths Mine football club, the Mashava community has formed the Mashava Social League where 14 teams will battle it out for a sole ticket to ZIFA division two promotion.
Speaking to TellZim sports, the vice chairperson of the league, Abiot Musundire said the league will comprise of 14 teams from the surrounding community.
“We formed the league after realising that there was immense untapped talent in the dormant mining settlement,” said Musundire.
“The teams are drawn from Bere, Gaths Mine, Lennox, King Mine, ZRP Mashava and Madamombe area.The league will be played on a home and away basis with the top team gaining promotion to ZIFA second division.We are happy that we now have a constitution in place that will guide us in our operations,”he said.
Musundire appealed to the businesspeople in Masvingo to chip in with sponsorship.
“The league is going to bring the much needed entertainment in Mashava community after the closure of Gaths Mine hence we are appealing to sponsors to assist us with whatever assistance,”said Musundire.
The league is also contemplating forming a league for netball.
Some of the members of the league executive include veteran retired referee, Geofrey Mapiye (president), Musundire (vice-president) and Collins Munemo (co-ordinator).sport
