Zanu PF complain of ill treatment at registry offices

Brighton Chiseva

MASVINGO – Zanu PF officials are complaining of ill-treatment by registry official when they bring their supporters to acquire identity documents.
This came out during Masvingo Provincial inter district meeting where the province passed resolutions for the 2022 national elective congress in which they endorsed President Mnangagwa as the sole presidential candidate in the 2023 harmonised elections.
One party chairperson complained that they were facing challenges at the registry offices when they bring people who need national IDs to use for voter registration as the party targets to get 5 million votes in the 2023 general elections.
“We need your help chairman, we carry people to registry offices to get IDs, but when we get there, the officers there are problematic, can you intervene and help us please,” he said
Responding to the issue, Provincial Chairperson Robson Mavhenyengwa said they will engage the Minister who is in charge of all ministries in the province to intervene.
Mavhenyengwa also said party leaders were supposed to mobilise themselves and get inputs and other government benefits first so that they won’t tussle with people they lead.
“No Zanu PF chairperson should fail to get inputs, you should benefit first before the others so that you integrity is preserved when others tussle,” said Mavhenyengwa
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira assured party chairpersons that he will look into the issue of registry officers saying all government departments should work with party chairpersons.
“You as party chairpersons should work with all government departments. If anyone refuse to work with you report to me, we will tell them to go and wait until the government they want gets in power then they return” said Chadzamira
Chadzamira also ordered party chairpersons to submit their names to leaders who so that they get inputs from
“Bring your names, we sign for you and you get inputs from GMB so that when they come for everyone you don’t take anything, Movaudza kuti is sevakuru hatitori ndezvenyu imi muchiziva zvenyu kuti madaya kare ,” said Chadzamira

I am the next President- Mohadi declares

Brighton Chiseva

MASVINGO – While many believe Vice President Constantino Chiwenga to be next in line for presidency after Mnangagwa, former Vice President and Zanu PF second Secretary Kembo Mohadi has, for the second time, claimed to be the next president of Zimbabwe.
Mohadi is alleged to have claimed that he will replace Mnangagwa during his speech at Mnangagwa Farm near Mbungo Estates during the burial of the President’s grandson Yasha Mafidi Mnangagwa who died recently.
Sources who attended the burial revealed that Mohadi said Chiwenga was nowhere near the presidential seat, which the former said he had all it takes to be president after having walked in the exact path Mnangwagwa walked before he became president.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira was the Director of Ceremonies at the funeral and before he introduced Mohadi he reportedly referred to him as an ‘indiscipline comrade’ who the president was always reprimanding.
When he stood up to speak, Mohadi allegedly said Chadzamira had left some important things about him saying he had a number of positive things which he did like the President which makes him a better candidate for the next president.
He said he was imprisoned, released, left the army and joined politics just like Mnangagwa, he was Minister of State Security and Minister of Defence as President Mnangagwa. He also became vice President which he was claiming and that was clear that he was walking in the president’s footsteps
That was not the first Mohadi said he was going to replace Mnangagwa as he once said the same in 2019 during a rally at Rutenga in Mwenezi.
Asked to introduce President Mnangagwa before thousands of Zanu PF supporters in Mwenezi in 2019, Mohadi gave a tale of the road travelled by his boss saying there were many parallels to be drawn between their two stories.
“I also travelled the same road as that of President Mnangagwa. I was arrested and stayed in prison till 1980. I came from prison and joined politics full time just like President Mnangagwa.
“The irony of the whole story is that President Mnangagwa became Minister of State Security, I also became Minister of State Security.
“He became Minister of Defence and I also became Minister of Defence. He became Vice President and I also became Vice President so munongoona kuti gwara racho ndiro rimwe.
But I am not going to push him out of it, achandisiira,” said Mohadi then.
Mohadi said President Mnangagwa told him there were some rigors he still needed to go through for him to qualify to be President among them surviving interface rallies, taking poison and border jumping.
“President Mnangagwa says I do not qualify to be President because I have never been poisoned or subjected to nine interface rallies or become a border jumper. I don’t know how I can be a border jumper but I would love to be poisoned and go through interface rallies,” said Mohadi.
In 2016 whilst he was still Minister of Defence, Malawian Prophet Shepard Bushiri allegedly prophesied that Mohadi will be promoted and went on to say he saw a crown on his head.
True to his word Mohadi was promoted to be vice president in 2018.
Efforts to get a comment from party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa were futile as his cell went unanswered several times.
Political analyst Davison Mabweazara Mugodzwa said what Mohadi said did not make sense considering the fact that he was no longer the Vice President.
“I cannot really tell what he was saying, he is no longer vice president I don’t know where he is driving that argument from, it really doesn’t make sense,” said Mugodzwa.
Zanu PF is allegedly divided on factional lines with two camps led by Mnangagwa and his deputy Chiwenga and Mohadi has not been placed on either of the two factions as he been low key since his resignation over a sex scandal.
At the recent Zanu PF national congress in Harare, Chiwenga allegedly endured another blow after the reinforcement of Mnangagwa’s candidature in next year’s election by all and sundry in the party.

ZimTrade embarks on marula trainings in Mwenezi

Cephas Shava

Mwenezi-As part of efforts to bolster export development in the Marula sector, ZimTrade recently organised a training workshop for local Marula pickers and processors exploring export opportunities in the sector.
The gathering which was convened at Mwenezi Subcatchment Council’s Rutenga offices saw stakeholders being enlightened by experts on the diverse export opportunities in the Marula sector.
Speaking at the event, ZimTrade Eastern Region client advisor Simbarashe Tasekwa said the organisation’s objective is to energise the country’s exports by capacitating potential players through such trainings and Mwenezi district being home to the Marula fruits has been identified as having the potential to energise the country’s export.
“As ZimTrade our aim is to energise the country’s exports and also initiate export development where we capacitate potential players through these trainings where we have hired experts to explore the market expectations of the European and African market.
“We have identified potential export clusters which comprises of Marula pickers and processors here in Mwenezi. We are enlightening them on the export opportunities in the Marula sector. We are also helping these farmers in making sure that their produces are organic certified so that they had the chance to value add the fruits from Marula oil to Marula beverages and juices,” said Tasekwa.
Participants appreciated the programme which they described as an eye-opener though they however expressed concerns over the snail pace at which the Mwenezi mapfura plant used to operate whenever they deliver their fruits.
“We are really excited about the export opportunities you are preaching but what worries us as locals is that whenever we deliver our produces at the local processing plant last season, the process was very slow. Some of our fruits lost value right at the plant’s doorstep owing to some delays beyond our control. There is need for the local plant to upgrade its machines such that unnecessary delays which resulted in farmers spending several hours queuing to deliver their Marula fruits,” said one of the participant.
On its part, the National Biotechnology Authority’s (NBA) Mwenezi Mapfura Plant representative took the opportunity to enlighten farmers on the possible best ways to deliver quality grade produces as well as sharing tips for the effective handling of the harvested fruits.
Having already registered 850 local farmers, NBA urged more to register with their organisation so that they could properly plan knowing the exact number of potential Marula fruits suppliers saying this will definitely improve efficacy at the plant.

Spare school kids from anti-sanction crap

Ladies and gentlemen let me first of all express my heartfelt condolences to the Mnangagwa family on the passing on of the young boy Mafidi. May his soul rest in peace. It’s unfortunate that such a young soul has departed this earth so early. The burial of the young kid seems to have opened a new chapter in the life of the Crocodile because all along we have speculated on his origins as most fingers pointed to Northern Rhodesia as his country of origin and no one ever talked about his father up until this juncture. Ko handiti chero neniwo ndaingova nemibvunzo here kuti kumusha kwake ndekupi chaizvo nhai. I used to think kuti it’s Mapanzure from Masvingo, then ndonzwa Mapanzure from Midlands kwaMnangagwa uko. Kombonzi Chivi, zvonzi Bikita vamwe voti kwaChirumhanzu, vamwe vakati Shurugwi, imi woye zvakaoma sure. Anyway I just hope kuti guva ririkunzi nderaSekuru Mafidi harisi rakangoonekwawo muPurazi rikatotorwa at least isusu senyika tava kuziva where the man who bought Dambudzo in this world is resting. I always thought he died and was buried in Zambia kkkk.
Speaking of Zambia, I hear things are getting better there every day, yes even the elephants from the Zambezi basin are reported to be crossing there for a better life, ko kutadza nei idzo maPassport ari mumoyo kungoenda takaenda. Hakainde Hichilema is no magician or what, it’s just he is leading with people’s mandate, simple. His win was so outright and wasn’t contested, it helps people to unite, izvi zvenyu zvemuno zvekuti you announce 3 different results izvi zvinokonzeresa. Hakuna nyika inoenda mberi when people are divided. Next year we need a free election adyiwa adyiwa, the loser should just congratulate the winner nyika yoenda mberi. Even if the win is controversial, ndozvinenge zvatoopo, let’s accept and move forward. Pamberi nekunzwisisa, pamberi nekunzwisisaaa, pasi nemhanduu.
I missed the anti-sanction march musi wa25, asi here in town haina kuitwa? I didn’t see any but I was waiting patiently to see people passing by Chitima market and join maybe ndinganowanawo some food crumbs. I heard kwayakaitwa it was all school children who were ordered to carry cardboard box placards denouncing sanctions. Organizing a march against sanctions is not a problem, it’s one of the freedoms enshrined in our constitution, but the problem comes when people are forced to do it, worse innocent kids who don’t even know what it means. In fact, even in Zanu PF if you ask some big guns kuti what sanctions are and how they are affecting the citizenry you won’t get any answer. Kana muchiti ndonyepa go and ask chedu Robby Mavhenyengwa provincial Chairperson, havazivi kana tsee. I think everyone in Zanu PF should go to Chitepo School of ideology vonodzidziswa nhema dzavo so that they can lie in unison coz vazhinji vavo hapana chozikanwa, or they can come to Chitima ndovaudza kuti arrest corruption and sanctions become useless. What has been achieved with these march except wasting peoples’ time, they are just useless and won’t bring any change.
Asi mukati uyu anonzi Thabela dzakanyatsokwana imi, a whole Permnent Secretary abusing kids to go for the useless march. It’s so embarrassing of you to write a circular to schools instructing them to participate in that stupid march let alone innocent primary school kids. Stop abusing children madam, siyanai nekatsika kenyu ikako kakadhakwa whilst there is still time. You are a technocrat and operate like one. You are a disgrace of the highest order considering that the very young learners you directed to brace the soaring temperatures holding placards have their future destroyed already.
What boggles the mind is that your kids have their educational needs well catered for as they attend Group A schools and will never participate in such silly marches. Mwana waani wamuri kuda kuti aite such nonsense, what a shame. If you are sincere about it we want to see your kids who are enjoying the fruits of independence on the frontline. Ko handiti vabereki vavo are the ones denouncing the sanction and they are the ones whose fathers responsible for the reason why they were imposed in the first place. If sanctions were imposed because certain conditions were/are supposed to be met let them be met simple. Ko ingoitaika zvavari kuda zvacho, kana musingadi then stop talking about them.
The so-called New Dispensation should just have to reflect on its un-doings and address all the wrong doings, if ever they are to engage the Western world who imposed the sanctions. They are the ones who rule the world until maybe Russia uses nuclear kkkkk. After all the narrative is so misleading to the learners, regai vana vadziidze imi they will make their own choices kana vakura. Why are you giving these young learners poisonous kind of education by inculcating in them a false agenda. Just call those who singing for their supper ana Linda Masarira. $eh Mchenu releases video, rides high on YouTube

Entertainment reporter

Masvingo-based artist Nyika Muchenu known in the music circles as ‘$eh Mchenu’ has released a song with a video that advocates for the promotion of equality in society with bias towards the girl child.
Titled Vape Mukana released on October 17 is making waves on entertainment channel YouTube and the musician says he is inspired by the need to offer more opportunities to the girl child in Zimbabwean society.
“I wrote the song as a way of responding to the difficulties in the African societies where continued deprivation of opportunities on the part of the girl child to participate equally in areas like education, careers and or political posts.
“It’s rather an out-dated belief that girls are inferior to boys. Women are equally innovative and from my personal experiences, have seen how better they perform in careers or any other area of life,” said Muchenu.
He went on to say several women have excelled in their respective constituents of leadership.
“It may be a hard nut to swallow, but take a look at even schools that are headed by women and how they fare to that effect. The schools are much more developed as women are perfectionists and thus deserve more space in various sectors.
“The ground needs to be fairly level despite gender differences,” he added.
$ir Mchenu said he is excited by the manner in which the new project is commanding a huge following despite being a new kid on the block.
“I am convinced that the song is the most followed of all the songs I have released and posted on YouTube. The numbers keep on rising every second.
“I would like to thank those who are taking their time to listen to my work and watching the video,” he said.
Last year, the artist also spoke against child marriages through his single track ‘Toudza vakuru’ released sometime in August.

ZESN condemns political, electoral violence

…begs political party leaders to foster peace ahead of 2023 harmonized elections

Fredrick Moyo

The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) has condemned political and electoral violence that unfavourably affect the participation of vulnerable groups electoral processes.
ZESN on October 18 released a press statement calling on political parties’ leaders and supporters to distance themselves from political and electoral violence ahead of the 2023 harmonized elections as violence negatively affect the electoral processes and outcomes.
“The Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) implores political party leaders and their supporters to foster peace ahead of the 2023 harmonized elections. The call comes against the prevailing toxic political environment which has been characterized by a spate of inter-party as well as intra-party violence that occurred in Matobo and Insiza.
“These violent clashes have a potential to adversely affect the participation in democratic electoral processes of the electorate in particular vulnerable groups,” read part of the statement.
ZESN called on political parties to have conflict management mechanisms as violence affect citizens’ rights, undermines democracy and erodes trust in democratic processes.
“Political and electoral related violence undermines civil and political rights and affects citizens’ right to compete in electoral processes; erodes trust in democratic processes; undermines the quality of democracy thereby limiting inclusive participation and leads to voter apathy as it discourages the electorate particularly women and people with disabilities to participate in electoral processes and leadership positions.
“The Network thus calls on political parties to foster peace, come up with conflict management mechanisms and create a conducive political environment where divergent views are respected and where all citizens enjoy their fundamental rights without fear in line with the dictates of Section 67 (2) of the Constitution which provides for fundamental rights,” added the statement.
ZESN also urged political parties to engage the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) in such instances so that they investigate, speak out against violence, uncover the causes behind the conflicts, and assist all victims of the conflict, to facilitate dialogue among political parties and offer possible solutions in order to prevent conflicts and disputes arising in the future.
Political and electoral violence have been on the rise in the country as it draws closer to the much awaited 2023 general elections.
Recently, in Insiza armed ZANU PF youths allegedly attacked Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party members.

Improve on refuse collection-residents tell council

Lydia Koto

Masvingo residents urged city council to adhere to set refuse collection schedules and prioritize solid waste management to safeguard the health of the city.
Giving contributions at the recent 2022 budget review and 2023 budget consultations, a resident urged council to collect refuse frequently to avoid a situation that would lead to proliferation of illegal dumpsites which would present a health hazard to the community.
“When people see that litter is not collected and becoming too much on the streets, they then dump the waste near our houses during the night. Some would drive cars loaded with litter while others use wheelbarrows to ferry the waste. Every morning we wake up to loads of dumped waste and that has become an eyesore on the environment.
“May you as council collect refuse frequently according to the timetable because that litter is now a threat to our health,” said a resident from ward 1.
Residents also urged the council to come up with ways of separating waste especially at business centers.
“Why wouldn’t you come with ways of separating waste especially at business centers? You can place bins for bottles and others for plastics materials so that waste does not mix,” one resident from ward 5 said.
Responding to the issue of separation of litter, Masvingo Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa said that they will sit down with his team and find ways of separating litter.
“I will sit down with my team and find ways on how best we can separate waste,” said Eng Mukaratirwa.
Masvingo residents also complained about council workers who are allegedly stealing their bins when collecting refuse so that they will sell them.
“Some of your workers are stealing our containers like plastic bags and buckets when collecting litter. l don’t know what they would want to do with them but l heard some saying they will sell them or convert to personal use,” said another resident.
Council also said Cambria Farm landfill is almost complete.
However, financially, using the new landfill will be associated with extra costs on part of council in terms of fuel, vehicle maintenance costs as well as paying personnel manning the dumpsite and council proposed the burden should be shared among residents.
The distance that council vehicles used to cover to reach out to the old dumpsite near Runyararo West suburb is 3 km but now it will be 15 km to Cambria Farm.
