MWENEZI – Three suspected serial thieves from Rutenga growth point were last week arrested after a long reign of terror which had wearied the community.
Philip Ziga (36), Takunda Chimbo (23) and Bernard Mlambo (28) were not formally charged of unlawful entry when they appeared before magistrate Honest Musiiwa but they were remanded in custody pending trial on April 30.
The State is expected to allege that from January to April this year, the three connived and unlawfully entered into 17 different premises and took away various property including flat screen televisions sets, other electrical gadgets, mattresses and cell phones.
Ziga and Chimbo, who are both self-employed builders, used to visit their victims’ homesteads pretending to be looking for work but they would later on return during the night to steal.
One of the victims is said to be a pastor whom the suspects visited in the day for prayers, only to return in the night to steal.
Their crime orgy ended when they broke into a house while the victim was fast asleep and got away with valuable property.
Upon waking up to find his house burgled, he immediately alerted detectives who swiftly carried patrols and found Mlambo, who is a known vendor during the day, carrying some of the stolen goods on his way to the bus stop.
After being questioned, Mlambo spilt the beans leading to the arrest of the other suspects.  Some of the stolen properties were recovered at the accused’s respective homesteads.crime

MWENEZI – A 36-year-old alleged conman facing charges of defrauding a 67-year-old prospective home owner was recently issued with a warrant of arrest by the Mwenezi Magistrates’ Court after he skipped court.
Champion Dziva of Rutenga growth point had been on bail after pleading not guilty to the charge of defrauding Selina Chovelele of US$1070.
He was scheduled to reappear before magistrate Honest Musiiwa on April 11 for judgement but failed to show up leading to the issuing of the warrant of arrest.
He however came back on his own accord and was sentenced to five days in prison or alternatively to pay US$20 fine. The matter was then moved to May 02 for continuation of trial.
It is the State case that sometime in 2013, Chovelele sent her daughter Tambudzai Muzewe to purchase a stand at the growth point.
Muzewe met Dziva who convinced her that for her mother to acquire a stand and have a house plan processed, she needed to pay US$1070.
Upon being given the money, Dziva went to the Mwenezi War Veterans Housing Cooperative (MWVHC) secretary general, Clemence Muboyi and paid a total of US$800. A receipt was issued in Dziva’s name instead of that of the complainant.
Sometime in 2016, after discovering that the receipt was issued in Dziva’s name, a suspicious Chovelele went to council offices where she was told that her name did not appear on the list of MWVHC’s prospective stands owners.
It was at this juncture that the complainant realised that Dziva was not a member of MWVHC. Following the intervention of the police, Dziva promised to pay back the money but only managed to refund US$200 before disappearing.
A police report was made leading to Dziva’s arrest.

Children rights group JCT opens office at Rutenga

MWENEZI – Justice for Children (JCT), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working to improve children’s access justice and the protection of their rights, has opened its first office in the province at Rutenga growth point.
The organisation, which has been providing free legal assistance to children across the province on regular circuits, decided to improve access to its services by opening a new office situated at the Mwenezi Magistrate Court.
Speaking to TellZim News, the organisation’s Sharon Chava said the new place will be capacitated to serve the whole district and beyond.
“We have offices country-wide but in Masvingo province, this is our first office. We have been providing services to various parts of the province through circuits but now the office will be a permanent feature here.
“JCT, among many other roles, provides free legal assistance to children who are below the age of 17 years. The idea is to make sure that children have easier access justice and that they enjoy their rights. Besides that, we also enlighten society about various forms of child abuse,” said Chava.
With rampant cases of child abuse perpetrated and swept under the carpet especially in isolated rural areas due to limited access to information, it is hoped the establishment of the JCT office at Rutenga will complement other efforts being made to protect children’s rights.local

Midlands veterinary services face chemical shortages

Veterinary officers in Zvishavane and Mberengwa have urged farmers to purchase supplementary livestock dipping chemicals at their own cost as government cannot meet all demand due to purported shortages in the supply chain.
In an interview with TellZim News, Midlands Veterinary Officer, Dr Maguranyanga said the available chemicals did not allow the veterinary department to fulfil its mandate of dipping livestock weekly.
“The stocks that are available cannot allow us to fulfil our mandate of dipping livestock’s weekly as is supposed to be done. So due to this situation, we are now forced to dip livestock’s monthly.
“I therefore urge famers and livestock owners to purchase their dip in advance and spray for themselves. So all farmers should consult veterinary services and get the necessary information about the required chemicals they can use for their live stocks,” said Maguranyanga.
He encouraged farmers to use authorised dipping methods recommended by the veterinary services while waiting for the rectification of the challenge being faced.
“I urge farmers to use authorised dipping measures that are approved by the veterinary services and give time to the department as we are working hard to deal with the situation at hand in order to bring things to normality,” Maguranyanga said.local

Violent clashes as Nice Time, Machando campaign for Chirumhanzu Zibagwe

Auxillia Mnangagwa

Itai Muzondo Midlands Bureau

MVUMA – Zanu PF Midlands provincial youth chairperson, Prosper Machando allegedly attacked aspiring Ward 13 councillor Tremendous Musara, accusing him of campaigning for Chrispen Tomu.
Tomu, who is known in business circles by his trade name Nice Time, and Machando are both angling to take over the Chirumhanzu Zibagwe parliamentary seat from first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa who recently announced she was no longer available to serve as MP.
Sources told TellZim News Machando hired youths to attack Musara, accusing him of supporting an opponent.
When contacted for comment, Zanu PF provincial spokesperson, Cornelius Mupereri confirmed the incident but could not shed more light.
“We heard about the issue but we aren’t yet privy to all the facts. Investigations are underway and as Zanu PF, we are saying no to violence be it inter or intra-party. We are really looking forward to a peaceful election,” said Mupereri.
Machando, however, denied being involved in the violence, saying such talk was the work of his detractors who wanted to give Tomu an upper hand in the race.
“I am not a violent person as everybody I have worked with in the party knows. Musara is an unstable politician who is trying to open doors for an MDC-T activist to campaign under the Zanu PF banner. It is for this reason that he is creating all these falsehoods,” Machando said.
In a social media outburst, Musara who reportedly sustained injuries on the wrist during the attack, demanded an apology from his assailants.
“To all those who attacked me, I want you to apologise before I make this matter a police case. If you don’t comply I will not need a witness, Nice Time shop security cameras have all the evidence I need so please, do as I say and I give you 24 hours,” reads Musara’s message.politics

Zanu PF primaries: The day Mapombi was waiting for

0

By the way what happened to our nurses? Mapombi heard they took VP Chiwenga head-on and dragged him to the cleaners, the High Court. That was the best decision by the nurses; we cannot have a whole VP running government like personal tuck shop. Chero mutengesi wemutuck shop akapihwa warning or notice wani kana atadza.
One cannot just fire people like that. Instead of creating more jobs VP Chiwenga is busy firing the few who are employed. Mapombi is sure that our learned VP will soon announce that they have created 5 000 jobs claiming vakapinza manurse basa.
Yes, our learned VP Chiwenga. Are you forgetting that he has a doctorate – Mapombi will not care whether akanyorerwa or akanyora ega what is important is that we call him Dr Constantino Nyikadzino Guvheya Chiwenga. Period.
Izvo zvana Professor Jonathan Moyo zvekuti hee wakanyorerwa hee this and that we don’t care, he is our Dr VP. Even the decision to fire nurses protesting for better working conditions and remunerations cannot be done by someone asina doctorate. Never. Those kind of decisions are for the doctors (PhD) kkkkkkk seka zvako Mapombi of the unknown totem.
Anyway, with that level of emotions, Mapombi might find herself behind bars – kunongonzi mubatei muvharire atongerwe life in jail. But that lawlessness must stop. It must stop Doctor.
Now to the primary elections slated for Sunday, chokwadi pachakamwa imbwa apa pakaipa. Ndaona vamwe vachirara nebhutsu mugumbeze ini. Honestly, some candidates will go to bed wearing their shoes. Some will passout, vamwe ndovachafa neBP. Mapombi has realized that the levels of confidence by many candidates is just too much. It’s just too much.
Even those who have been declared missing in their constituencies are confident of winning another term kkkkkk don’t take people for granted. Mapombi is much interested with Chiredzi constituencies where alleged G40 guys are facing off with Lacoste die hards. Mapombi can safely tell you that big names are going to be humiliated. Very big names I tell you. Just watch the space!
But people like Western Ezra are they serious? I mean this self-styled war vet who single-handedly attempted to grab Panyanda lodge. If I were him I would have contested for a ward not the whole Masvingo West constituency. A ward would have been far much better – not an urban ward but a rural one.
Even if Mapombi is to contest against Western Ezra, I bet with the last drop of my blood ndaimudya zvekuti aizvisungirira kana kunwa poison. Akawana five, I mean 5 votes anenge arwa semvumba chaiyo.
But Mapombi is not happy by the elimination of Mudzikisi; that was a well calculated move to give Marapira advantage in Masvingo North. Marapira is not liked by many people in Masvingo North if truth is to be told but akagadzirirwa penalty kuti angogohwesa hake gedhe risina keeper. If he wasn’t afraid of Mudzikisi then they should have allowed him to contest.
Anyway, it’s almost lunch time guys let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch but for those who were imposed zivai kuti tichasangana pageneral election tinongoita bhora musango. Kkkkkk Mapombi heard uncle Bob vari kutozokanda CV panomination court vakamirira NPF. Kkkkk kamudhara kaye mahwani hakagute kutonga kakaita seiko?
Mapombi expects Mphoko to join uncle Bob soon. Women should get ready for chicks and incubators donations from Mphoko soon. Mboko imboko!mapombi

Mwenezi RDC, villagers clash over land in Neshuro

MWENEZI – The Mwenezi Rural District Council (RDC) and people in villages close to Neshuro growth point are engaged in a bitter dispute over land that the local authority claims has been irregularly sold to home seekers by unscrupulous villagers.
The council had earmarked the land for the expansion of the growth point but villagers sold the land, much of which used to be their fields, before it could be taken away from them.
Much of the land subject to the dispute makes up part of such villages as Dungwe, Madanha and Mangezi.
Mwenezi RDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Albert Chivanga confirmed the dispute saying they had since approached the courts to seek an eviction order.
“The area is part of the extension of Neshuro growth point which has already been gazetted. Initially, the area had only four households but now there are 63 people who are already developing the stands after they bought it from the first four.
“Since the land belongs to the local authority, individuals have no right to sell it so we have approached the courts to seek an eviction order and the demolition of the erected structures,” said Chivanga.
People who bought the land have however remained defiant and are busy erecting the structures, vowing to resist any plan to move them away.
The matter was due to be heard at the civil court by the time of going to print.local
