Chivhu sisters fight for boyfriend

Ethel Munatsi

Elliot Jinjika

CHIVHU – Two cousin sisters who reside in J Extension, are engaged in a bitter feud over a boyfriend allegedly snatched by the elder sister.
Ethel and Moilah Munatsi are potato vendors who usually do their business around Chivhu post office but left work and exchanged blows at Spar in the presence of the said boyfriend last week, only to be restrained by members of the public.
The Munatsi sisters are said to have fought again later at home and were also said to have parted ways in their potato business.
Ethel told TellZim News her younger sister was at fault claiming she was the one who assaulted her first after finding out about the love triangle.
“I had to teach her a lesson, how could she beat me instead of us coming together as sisters and fight our common enemy. I will date that guy till she knows how to deal with matters and the boyfriend is mine even though he used to be hers,” boasted the big sister
She went on to brag about snatching the boyfriend, saying she was the better one of the two.
Moilah, however, insisted she will get her boyfriend back using whatever means necessary.
“She is a prostitute. How could she snatch my guy, a sister for that matter? I will deal with her accordingly and will not let her take him away,” said Moilah.local

Masvingo RDC plough back policy gets thumps up

TellZim Reporter

MASVINGO – Masvingo Rural District Council (RDC) has been praised for initiating the Plough Back Policy which has been described as a vehicle for development in line with the government policy on decentralisation.
This was said by community members during the commissioning of 2×2 classroom blocks at Harawe Satellite Primary School in ward 14.
The school was established in 2004 with an enrolment of 355 pupils and eight teachers but the current figures stand at 645 pupils and 14 teachers, with ECD alone constituting 192 pupils.
The new classrooms were constructed using plough back funds from the council, local Member of Parliament (MP) Davies Marapira, Schools Improvement Grant and the local community.
Masvingo district senator Clemence Makwarimba, who presided over the event which was attended by other dignitaries including District Administrator (DA) Roy Hove and Chief Chikwanda, thanked council for contributing 18 window frames, door frames, 50 chairs and 50 desks for the block.
The RDC also provided the lorry for the transportation of the materials as well as river and pit sand during the construction work. The council also graded the Zano – Harawe access road to ease travel.
Ward 4 Councillor Cornelus Gwinji expressed satisfaction with the project and thanked all stakeholders for working hand in glove for community development.
He also said Rukovo Clinic, which is in the same ward, had just received 10 rolls of security fence and the actual work of fencing was in progress while construction of Chikwanda Secondary School had received significant assistance from the same fund.
Masvingo RDC CEO Martin Mubviro hailed the decision to plough back 25 percent of all revenue collected from a particular ward for developmental projects, a position that was echoed by council chairperson Peter Marambire.
It was learnt that all 35 wards were engaged in various projects using the plough back funds with ward 13 having just completed a market stall which was now in use at Chikarudzo business centre.
Ward 2 is constructing a waiting mother’s shelter at Zimuto Clinic while ward 22 constructed Magodo bridge.local

ZYC sends two youths to school

Bigboy Murenga

Shumirai Zhou

ZVISHAVANE – The Zvishavane Youth Centre (ZYC) has this term sent two of the youth under its care to school through one of its 14 programmes, ‘Giving Second Chance in life’.
ZYC coordinator Bigboy Murenga said the centre recognised the fact that education was a basic right that must be extended to those who are less fortunate.
“Sending the two teen mothers to Midlands Universal College is the first step that the centre has made to contribute to youth empowerment. We do not have adequate resources but we capitalise on the limited individual resources we have.
“We implore the community to ask themselves what is their contribution towards youth empowerment and development,” said Murenga.
He said ZYC has drafted a homeless children development programme as part of strategies to reduce the number of homeless children in Zvishavane.
Clifford Mugiya, who is the ZYC facilitator, described the two teen mothers as pioneers of the youth centre and said that the development would make them an inspiration for other girls in similar circumstances.
“These young mothers fell pregnant after finishing their grade seven so they dropped out of school but unlike other youths with the same challenge, they have been given a second chance to continue with their education.
“Besides them going to school we are giving them life skills. We teach them how to take care of their babies, how to interact with other people and how to manage their households among others,” said Mugiya.
The two young mothers said they do not face any challenge concerning their babies as they are given a break at school to return to the centre to breastfeed their children.
The centre has managed to find a nanny to take care of their children when their mothers are at school.local

Teachers win battle against transfer from Serima High

TellZim Reporter

GUTU – Two Serima High school teachers who took up their case to the High Court in resistance against what they called was an unprocedural bid to transfer them to Majada and Chiguhune secondary schools seem to have had the last laugh after the Gutu District Education Inspector (DSI) reversed the move.
Earlier in May, Batsiranai Ngugama and Samson Mubvekeri filed an urgent chamber application with the High Court in Masvingo citing the DSI and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) as the first and second respondents respectively.
Represented by Coghlan & Welsh, known in Masvingo as Ruvengo, Maboke and Company, the two were arguing that they were being procedurally and unfairly being targeted.
They argued that the letters of transfer maliciously claimed that they had requested the transfers when in actual fact they had never requested any.
“They were never consulted about the decisions to transfer them and the transfer is giving them inadequate time to prepare for the transfer as schools are opening on the 9th of May 2017,” reads part of the urgent chamber application.
Though Mubvekeri and Ngugama flatly refused to talk to TellZim News, this reporter managed to get hold of their heads of argument which is replete with emotional language.
“The way we were picked for transfer is not procedural and reflects nepotism, hogwash and malicious geocentricism with purely corrupt thought and motives with the ardent intention of bringing the good name of the ministry and government into disrepute,” reads part of the arguments.
Though the official reasons given for the planned transfer were said to be overstaffing, sources said there was actually a fraught relationship between the two and school authorities who considered them to be “irritating distractions who want to see too much.”local

EcoCash deal gone wrong

….Chiredzi DSI drags partner to court

Increase Gumbo

CHIREDZI – Chiredzi District Schools Inspector (DSI) Petronella Nyangwe is claiming US$40 000 from her business partner Admire Magodhlo following a misunderstanding which cropped up over commission sharing, TellZim can reveal.
The civil court led by Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga heard that sometime last year, Nyangwe of 2 Chache River Triangle, got into an EcoCash deal with Magodhlo and deposited capital of $12 500 into his business.
It is alleged that after an agreeable period, Magodhlo then failed to pay the agreed amount to Nyangwe, forcing her to drag him to court. In his defence Magodhlo, who is a former member of Airforce of Zimbabwe and a seasoned police officer, said he paid the agreeable amount in full to Nyangwe but the misunderstanding cropped up after Nyangwe realised that Magodhlo was getting more commission.
In his defence, Magodhlo also said that Nyangwe was jealousy that Magodhlo was making more profit from the business which motivated her to sue him.
Magodhlo, who was represented by Tsatsawani Ndava of Mangwana Associates, said Nyangwe was lying to the court and he only received $12 500 from Nyangwe which he indeed paid up over an agreeable period.
Nyangwe, who was represented by Ross Chavi of Magwaliba and Associates dismissed Magodhlo’s representations saying they were fabricated lies.
The civil court postponed the case to a later date for continuation of trial.local

Death at a funeral

…as car crashes mourner

Brighton Chiseva

ZAKA – A real life rendition of the American blockbuster  ‘Death at a funeral’ was witnessed last week  when a village head who was attending the burial of a deceased villager was accidentally killed when a car hit him at the deceased’s homestead last Sunday.
Although police confirmation could be found as provincial police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula was out office by the time of going to print, Zaka RDC ward 19 Councillor Peter Imbayarwo said Patrick Chilo had gone to Mapunga village, Chief Ndanga’s area, to pay condolences.
Imbayarwo said a nephew to the deceased’s husband, who had his car parked nearby, asked his uncle – the deceased’s husband – to get into the car for a photo shoot.
“The widower was sitting on the front seat as they took pictures. We suspect that the car had been left in reverse gear and he could have stepped on the pedals resulting in the car moving,” Imbayarwo said.
Other reports said as the photo shoot continued, the car started to move in reverse and ploughed into four unsuspecting mourners, killing Chilo instantly and injuring the other three.
By the time of writing, two of the injured victims had been discharged from Musiso Hospital while the other one was still admitted. Chilo was due to be buried yesterday (Wednesday).local

Headman Chaka threatens to ban churches

Chief Chaka

Batsiranayi Ngugama

Chirimuhanzu – Headman Chaka, born Takaendesa Chaka, has warned priests and church ministers to mind their own business and desist from being ‘agents of imperialists who seek to destroy traditional culture’.
The headman said this while addressing hundreds of mourners gathered for the burial of one Eva Madyauta nee Masiiwa at Maketo village.
He accused churches of confusing the people and warned that he would no longer tolerate that.
“It remains a mystery whether we are going to see God or not. These preachers are serving our erstwhile enemies. How would you feel you pastors and priests when you die the following morning your children call you a goblin? (sic).
“You preachers you must stop that forthwith or risk being banned. You are compromising our culture and we won’t permit that. As chiefs, we know that witches are there but even government says otherwise,” Chaka said.
Madyauta, who reportedly succumbed to severe headache, finished her studies at Masvingo Teachers College in 2012 and taught in Murewa before transferring to Matibi Mission where her husband is a nurse.
Speaker after speaker described Madyauta, who is survived by husband and their five-year-old daughter, as a pillar of faith and a hardworking person.
On a different note, Chaka said he was greatly honoured by President Robert Mugabe who commissioned the construction of a dualised Beitbridge – Harare highway in his area.
“The President once taught at Driefontein with the great statesman Leopold Takawira and has full knowledge of this area.
“He knows that this area has mermaids and is sacred so it was important to appease the ancestors here. I killed a black cow and talked to the mermaids,” he claimed.
Heiger Construction will commence the project with construction of a 40km stretch of road going towards Harare Road and another 40km towards Masvingo from the place President Mugabe commissioned the project.
The headman also said chiefs will be in charge of recruiting locals to work in the multi-million dollar project.topnews

G-40 protects Mugabe

Robert Mugabe

Lloyd Shunje in Mutare

MUTARE – Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) interim president Retired Brigadier General Agrippah Mutambara last week said a Zanu PF faction, Generation 40 (G40), is protecting President Robert Mugabe so that he continues to hang on in power.  Mutambara also said Mugabe is not God and urged party supporters in Manicaland not to be afraid ahead of 2018 eletions at which the party intends to topple the 93-year-old leader from power.
Speaking during his first visit to Mutare as leader of ZimPF, Mutambara, who was accompanied by party secretary general Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and Claudios Makova, told his supporters not to be afraid but to be strong to fight Mugabe whom he accused of using the G40 faction to remain in power.
“We no longer have time and when confronting Mugabe’s government, you have to be strong. I come with the message that we have to be strong; Mugabe is a human being not God.
“Yes l know that he is now using Grace, Kasukuwere, Jonathan Moyo to remain in power but we have to say no to this scenario where Grace, Kasukuwere and others take over the country,” said Mutambara.
Speaking on a possible coaliton of opposition parties, Mutambara said ZimPF will consider working with any party which agrees to have primary elections for people to choose whom they want to represent them.
“There are issues that have been talked about on forming a coalition against Mugabe. A coaliton is not bad; we are not selective, we can work with anyone but in that regard, if we are to work together, all parties should declare their candidates and then we hold our own primary elections as oppostion parties. Everyone else will then rally behind the winner to participate in the election.
“We can even use the same principle to choose the person who will lead the coaltion so that we avoid fighting each other,” Mutambara said.
The meeting, which was meant to introduce the new president to Manicaland, had a low turn out with most of the attendents said to have come from Mutasa district.
Party officials blamed the the low turn out on the police that allegedly delayed to clear the meeting so as to sabotage the event.topnews
