MASVINGO – TellZim News, undoubtedly the fastest growing regional newspaper for Masvingo province and the southern region of Zimbabwe, recently partnered with the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) to sponsor the RCZ-run schools athletics competitions.
As part of the agreement, TellZim News will provide trophies for the winners of the annually – held competitions.

“Our role is to promote development; we have seen that RCZ is doing a lot of developmental projects in the country and it is our duty as media to partner such organisations in order to promote development. We have realised that some pupils are not academically gifted but have a lot of talent in various sporting disciplines. We, therefore, should support school sports in the province.
“We are ready to partner any institution which is development-oriented. We are not only limited to RCZ-run schools; even Roman Catholic, Methodist, Zion Christian Church (ZCC) and councils – run schools are welcome,” said Kuzipa.

Violence disrupts MDC-T youth meeting

TellZim Reporter

28 April 2017, MASVINGO – The factionalism syndrome affecting political parties in Zimbabwe violently manifested itself at a Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Masvingo youth provincial meeting last week, with district chairperson; Peacemaker Mapope assaulting Ward 4 Councillor Godfrey Kurauone for making a contribution during the heated proceedings.
Kurauone was assaulted in front of the provincial youth chairperson, Philip Chingini who is believed to be lobbying the provincial youth structures to support Takanayi Mureyi’s ambitions to stand as Masvingo Urban parliamentary candidate in the coming 2018 elections.
Kurauone is alleged to be supporting a different candidate to contest the same seat.
While at the meeting, Kurauone is said to have spoken against factionalism in the youth structures, something which was allegedly interpreted by Mapope as a dig at Mureyi.
Sources who attended the meeting said Kurauone ran for his life as more members of the alleged faction threatened to beat him up.
When contacted for comment, Kurauone confirmed the assault to TellZim News but refused to divulge more details.
“Yes, I was beaten but I cannot comment any further. I am sure the party will deal with the issue using proper party channels,” said Kurauone.
Masvingo Urban MDC-T is reportedly divided over which candidate to field in 2018 with another group said to be fighting for former legislator Tongai Matutu. There are also reports that another group is gunning for Bornface Mazarire to run for the seat.
Fearing competition, the alleged Mureyi faction is said to be working hard to send the former MP to Mwenezi so he can contest there.
Last month Mapope asked party president Morgan Tsvangirai to field Matutu in Mwenezi but was interjected by another faction which crushed the bid. The incident happened during a meeting Tsvangirai was having with structures at the party’s provincial offices in Rhodene
When contacted for comment, Chingini first professed ignorance over the matter and said he does speak to TellZim News but after being quizzed further, he said he did not want to blow the case into the public domain.
“It was not a fight as such but there was a little misunderstanding, nothing the party cannot deal with,” Chingini said.politics

MASVINGO – Scores of local handball players last week made their way to Masvingo to take part in the Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF)’s Inaugural Open Season tournament at Masvingo Polytechnic College.
The association, led by Stewart Sanhewe decided to stage the Open Season tournament as a way of reviving the sport at senior level.
The tournament saw 27 teams take part with 12 of them being ladies teams while 15 were men.
Manyame Airbase dominated the tournament, scooping gold in both men and women’s categories.
Masvingo handball board vice chairperson, Erikana Mangwiro was happy with the success of the tournament.
“We managed to host a very successful tournament and I am happy that everything went well despite the rains that somehow interfered with the proceedings.
“I can also note that the standard of play has improved very much and we look forward to see those standards being maintained in Zimbabwe,” Mangwiro said.
Manyame Airbase ladies team beat MSU in the final to take the gold but the rains affected the match between Manyame and Mutare Polytechnic but Manyame won on average scores in the games they had played before.
In the past, handball was dominant mainly at junior levels with no proper structures in place for a senior national league for both men and women. The recent tournament was the first step towards the revival of the sport at senior level.
Some of the teams which took part in the tournament are Manyame falcons from Chitungwiza, Manyame Airbase, UZ, Midland State University (MSU) pythons, Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), Houghton Park Sharks, Mashrino among others.
Sanhewe and officials from the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) attended as the invited guests.sport

28 April 2017, CHIVHU – The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Chivhu has opened a vocational training centre at Ernest Kadungure, Pennefather area, as a way of according the public an opportunity to acquire quality training in different trades.
The institution is operating as a satellite of Nyahoni Vocational Training Centre awaiting independent registration.
The vocational training centre has been warmly received with enrolment now standing at 40 students after only two months of operations. Most of the students studying there are specialising in motor mechanics and power electrical engineering.
AFM Chivhu province chairperson, Overseer Joshua Takawira Nzombe, who is the brains behind the institution, said it was the church’s desire to equip the youth with knowledge as they are the future of the church and nation at large.
“Our place is largely made up of rural settlements with most of the people resident there unable to afford tertiary education. We also have other young people who would not have done very well at school so we want to give them an opportunity to see that the world does not end there. We want to equip them with skills that can help them do well in life.
“We are very much concerned with the youth; loitering on the streets may lead to abuse of drugs, early marriages, crime among others vices. The word of God says an idle mind is the workshop of the devil so the youth must concentrate on building the future and we are here to help them,” said Nzombe
Apart from Motor Mechanics and Power Electrical Engineering, the vocational training centre also offers courses in Cosmetology, Agriculture, Dressmaking, Brick and Block Laying, Carpentry, Welding, Vehicle Board Maintenance, Plumbing as well as Hotel and Catering.
It also offers complementary and compulsory courses that include Christian Ethics, Computers and Business Management.local

Dr Amai, a true prophetess indeed

0

Kkkkk Mapombi once told you kuti chingoma kana choririsa choda kubvaruka. Is there anyone who still remember what I said about Jeppy Jaboon , the Bikita South MP? Didn’t I say his days were numbered? Am I hearing that Jaboon has since been suspended – or is it fired from the position of Zanu PF Masvingo provincial commissar? Anyway, I rest my case but always remember that zvimwe zvacho Mapombi anoonera manje.
But Kasukuwere is no push over like what other Cdes from Team Lacoste thought; they were optimistic kuti Tyson abaya this time around but to no avail. Even Ngwena was too confident that Tyson was going to be kicked out of Zanu PF – hanzi zvoto zvine mazera ukaenda kune vasiri vezera unobaikana nekutorerwa pekugara ukapedzesera wagara pasi chaipo. This was in reference to Kasukuwere kuti wakadziya pachoto chevakuru but from Mapombi’s analysis, it seems like Tyson ari kutodziya nevezera rake manje. And achaudziya as long as President Robert Mugabe is there.
By the way, Mapombi is not happy at all by what some Cdes in Zanu PF say about Mr President – hanzi he is now too old hee-e this and that, blah blah. Tibvirei apa! Tikwanirei! Nxaa!
You mean mazozviona nhasi kuti akura? Why then did you endorse him as the Zanu PF presidential candidate for 2018? Why did you buy him the massage chair? Or is it a wheelchair kkkkkk nhaka zvangu. Saka tiitirei zvenyu mushe mutinyararire kuti zii. After all you all heard what the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe said – hanzi baba vachatonga vari pawheelchair; vagozotongazve vava muguva.
Kkkkkk Dr Amai vakapenga manje. Mapombi will not hesitate to call her Prophetess Grace. She prophesised paBuhera apo akati baba vachatonga vari muwheelchair and now a special chair was bought for him. And the special chair has wheels of course kkkkkk. But can I ask something – what kind of a chair is it that it deserves to be called a special chair? Mapombi think it is just a matter of semantics here – kwedu ndoyatinoti wheelchair iyi yava kunzi special chair nema bootlickers aya.  All along Mapombi though Dr Amai is a prophet of doom but ndakazozvionera pamhino sefodya; she is a true prophetess. Vanotoona kudarika mamwe maProphet atinonzwa nemukurumbira awa.
For now, Mapombi gave her 100 percent because wheelchair yatovapo chasara kuzoona hedu kuti is he going to rule this country from the grave. But with what Mapombi has seen so far, that cannot be ruled out. Thank you Prophetess Dr Grace for your message has surely come to pass.
By the way, Zimbabwe’s Independence Day is this week. But Mapombi was very much confused about this independence whole thing – are we really independent or it is just a few Cdes in Zanu PF?  Mapombi appreciate that we successfully fought white minority rule but what we were expecting is yet to come. One major achievement was that in 1980 we put an end to the white minority rule and introduced dictatorship by a black person against the black majority – wotonzwa vamwe vachiti ndoIndependence yacho. To hell!
This country was far much better in 1980 than the way it is today. Mugabe and his Zanu PF virtually looted everything and today we are in this mess thanks to the nonagenarian.  Vakomana musaita zvekutamba ne37 years zve imi vanhu vachingomora nyika.
They preach socialism but they are hardcore capitalists. They are capitalists to the bone marrow yet they pretend to be socialists when they address the public. They amassed wealth – from diamonds, gold mines, white-owned companies to whites’ farms. Only a clique in Zanu PF own all these at the expense of the majority, and still they claim to be socialist. Haaa nyaraiwo mhani.
Anyway, chisingapere chinoshura. Who ever thought Hitler, Bismark, Mussolini or Stalin would be defeated or die one day?  Go and read from the Bible Muparidzi 3 inoti chimwe nechimwe chine nguva yacho. Musazoti Mapombi haana kureva.
To those who believe in independence or should I say to those who are independent – Happy Independence Day. But to others like Mapombi whose life got worse from the day Mugabe got into office, I say rambai makashinga maCdes kuseri kwemakata kune materu.
Mapombi had a dream last night but would not say it as you are all aware kuti ukataura zvavasingafariri unoswera waendeswa kwamupfiganebwe or kuvharirwa kana watoita lucky. Yes; they kill or imprison you for nothing. Are you forgetting what happened to self-proclaimed prophet Mugadza? And Pastor Evan Mawarire? Havana tsitsi varume ava. They reminded me of a poem that was written by my late teacher Renias Mashiri in the book Tipeiwo Dariro – hanzi mbavha kuiti mbavha chokwadi masvasvaurana nekuti naiyowo inoda utsvene asi utsvene hwayo umbavha….. mhondi kuiti mhondi shuwa munotosvorana nekutiwo inodawo unaku asi unaku hwayo umhondi…
Ndozvavari vanhu ava and for that reason, I will hold on a bit but very soon I will tell you about my dream. Hopefully, they will not come and threaten me kwangu kwaDr Grace Mugabe Trading Centre kwandogara uku. But I don’t even care; handitombovhunduke because they robbed me of my future. Imagine munhu akadzidzawo seni kudai ndoswerera maputi and rotten bananas? Ndichirara in plastics and someone onditi we are independent. Nxaa!
Anyway, it’s almost lunch time guys let me go ndindokanga zvangu maputi angu for lunch. But before I go, I would like to congratulate President Mugabe for leading Zimbabwe astray for over 30 years. Thank you Gushungo for leading this country to poverty, high unemployment, commercialised education and poor health service delivery.mapombi

27 April 2017, MUTARE – Lovemore Mlambo Mafukidze of Matsotso homestead in Chipinge was last week hit with a 22-year jail sentence for murdering 79-year-old Marambeni Sithole of Chimene village under Chief Musikavanhu.
Sitting on circuit, Justice Charles Hungwe found the accused guilty of murder as defined in section 47(1) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
It was the State’s case that on July 26, 2015, Mafukidze, in the company of Josiah Simango, who is still at large, went to the now deceased’s homestead and found her sleeping in her bedroom hut and began to assault her.
Fate had it that the victim dropped her Samsung phone which was of a similar make to that of Mafukidze. Thinking it was his friend’s phone, Simango picked the phone and gave it to Mafukidze with the two mistakenly leaving Mafukidze’s actual phone at the scene.
On the same day around 2000hrs, the body of the deceased was discovered by James Mlambo and Spiwe Mangana who had been asked to check on Sithole by her daughter, Ellen Mhlanga, who had become worried after her mother’s phone had gone unanswered for too long.
Samuel Sithole, the deceased’s relative, found a Samsung cell phone and a Telecel sim card beside the corpse. The sim card was later found to be owned by one Dakarai Mlambo Masori.
Masori revealed he had given the sim card to Mafukidze who was then approached by villagers and found in possession of the now deceased’s phone.
The accused person led the villagers to one Simon Makuyana’s homestead where he had hidden the deceased’s sim card.
A report was made to the police on the July 28, 2015 leading to the arrest of the accused.

Cllr Makamba to share earnings with widows

Paida Mukono

CHIREDZI – Ward 3 Councilor Tarusenga Makamba last week held a consultation meeting with residents of his ward at the Zimbabwe grounds where he promised to share half of his council earnings with widows.
Makamba said widows were a vulnerable social group which should be shown compassion, vowing to share ‘the little’ he gets from council with them.
“It is our duty to take care of widows and I am willing to share with them half of my earnings. In the Bible, widows were cared for and that should be the case even today. If we do not care for them, nobody will and life will be difficult.
“It is better if we help them to start their own small businesses as we do not even know what the future holds for us,” said Makamba.
He assured residents he was working hard to improve service in the ward and beyond, saying some of the service delivery pledges he made last year had been fulfilled.
The councillor said he was very much aware of the problems of poor drainage systems in the ward and promised to work with the town engineer to get the issues attended to.politics

28 April 2017, Manicaland police are looking for a Rusape farmworker who allegedly killed his wife after she was reportedly spotted by a family friend having sex with a stranger in a maize field, TellZim News has learnt.
Christopher Tawona, who is a general hand at Concopia Farm Extension, went into hiding after allegedly killing his wife Patience Mlambo.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed there was a murder case being investigated.
“We have received a murder report from Rusape but the suspect is still to be found. We ask the public to help us by reporting any information they may have to the nearest police station,” said Inspector Kakohwa.
A close source told TellZim News the deceased was seen on March 14 having sex in a maize field.
“It was rumoured that Patience was having an affair and the matter came to light when somebody saw her having a good time with the man. Tawona went to see for himself after receiving a tip off and he became convinced that his wife was cheating though he did not catch them.
“Tawona then approached the man at a farm bottle store and an argument ensued and the two exchanged blows before they were restrained by other revellers,” said the source.
An angry Tawona is said to have left the place in a huff but came back later only to find his wife at the bottle store and a quarrel started with Tawona assaulting his wife with sticks while dragging her home.
On March 15 around 18:00 hrs, one Gracious Nyambi visited the couple’s place and she found Mlambo dead. The case was reported to the police who then came to attend the scene but Tawona was nowhere to be found.
The body was taken to Rusape General Hospital for post-mortem.local

Dinyero

TellZim Reporter

28 April 2017, MUTARE – Former Dynamos player Masimba Dinyero has been relieved off his duties as Mutare City Rovers coach before the start of Division One season.
Dinyero who joined Rovers from Hartley Academy in January, was fired at a club meeting held last week.
“Yes it is true that we are no longer with Masimba Dinyero. He was relieved off his duties after the new club executive felt that he was not up to the task. The executive has been monitoring the team’s performance during friendly matches that we have been playing,” said club administrator Clayton Masekesa.
Sources within the club, however, told TellZim News that Dinyero was sacked after he failed to work well with his deputy, Kenny ‘Bokande’ Kachara.
“The issue here is that Dinyero and Bokande are not in good books. Bokande is well supported by the whole executive,” said the source.
Meanwhile Mutare City Rovers has announced the names of the new executive: Kuda Chisango is now the new chairman, Isdore Bingura was elected committee member and Tanda Rwambiwa is now the new vice chairman. Rufaro Haparari is the new welfare manager while Abigail Musunzuru is the auditor.
Other committee members include Brian Mukunga, Soul Tomu, Hatinzwani Kubuya, Benjamin Chindima and Samson Kabwe. Prudence Mhlanga is the team doctor while Tonde Kanengoni is the legal officer. Masekesa, who was the club’s spokesman, is now the club’s administrator.
In the technical department, Kenny Kachara has been elevated to acting head coach while Lyndon Kanyemba remains the team manager.sport
