MASVINGO – A music centre for homeless children is on the cards with humanitarian organisation Africa Music Arts Centre (AMAC) in conjunction with Masvingo Association of Residential Care Facilities (MARCF) working closely to realise the goal.
The two humanitarian organisations work to give homeless children musical skills and train them to play musical instruments.
Speaking to TellZim News, AMAC chairperson Dr Jerry Rutsate said he was glad that City of Masvingo had pledged to help find suitable land for the project.
“We recently held a musical gala for homeless children and the city housing director challenged us to look for funds so that suitable land could be found. That wass a great offer towards our dream of establishing a centre where disadvantaged children can be given life skills.
“We also envisage a musical museum in which ancient and modern musical instruments from across Africa will be stored, as well as an arena where traditional music will be performed in celebration of Africa’s contribution to the arts,” Dr Rutsate said.
City of Masvingo housing director Levison Nzvura said the city was ready to work for the success of any humanitarian project.
“We challenged them to mobilise funds and come to us for land. It is our wish to see children being rehabilitated off the streets and getting a helping hand,” said Nzvura.
MARCF coordinator Zendakwaye Zendakwaye appealed to well-wishers to come on board and contribute to the realisation of the cause.
“We have a noble plan and I am happy the city council is ready to play its part. We have not yet raised the required money so we appeal for contributions towards this project whose objective is to bring change to the many disadvantaged children out there,” said Zendakwaye.entertainment

MASVINGO – Alick Macheso, the Ochestra Mberikwazvo front man and King of Sungura has acquired 30 residential stands for his band members.
This was leant during Macheso’s show at Ritz Gardens on Saturday evening when Selemani Mphochi, popularly known as Majuice, who is Macheso’s stage king dancer, revealed his boss’ big heart during the show.
Macheso added that all his band members, from the biggest band member to a mere doorman have benefited 600m2 stands from this project. He encouraged them to save and develop the stands.
Majuice later told TellZim News that they were happy that Macheso had bought a 600 square metre residential stand in Kuwadzana for every band member including doormen.
The show at The Ritz also featured Soul Jah Love of the ‘Chibaba’ fame who warmed the stage with his hit songs sending the crowd haywire. Dai Upenyu hwaitengwa, Mafans angu, Go back to sender, Mwana waStembeni, Gum Kum, Pamamonya ipapo among others were some of the songs which raved the crowd’s excitement.
Chibaba promised to come back to Masvingo soon after they are done with their international schedule. He described Masvingo people as happy people who enjoy his music.
Apart from the chikopokopo sound, Macheso introduced another scorcher as he imitate a haulage truck’s engine brake change down sound and the pressure release sound that it make after stopping.
Prodigal chanter Jonas Kasamba introduced the “bata chihuta” dance, with Kariba, the former Madzibaba dancer, also showing what he is made of on the dance floor.
Devine Wezhira, was on lead guitar, Mikoro and Sekuru Poto Njere on rhythm guitars.
Roy Gwese, The Ritz manager expressed gratitude to the fans who thronged the gardens and promised more sizzling shows.entertainment

GUTU – An upcoming 18-year-old Zimdancehall artist has emerged from the small settlement of Basera prowth point in Gutu and promises to be one of the best artists in the country.
Better Kudakwashe Madhuyu from Tafuma village under Chief Chimombe recently rubbed shoulders with the cream of Zimdance Hall artists in the country at a show that was held at the Midlands Hotel in Gweru. Madhuyu earned himself the nickname ‘Gwengwendere’ at the show after launching his debut album by that name.
Madhuyu aka Dee Bosy normally performs at Simbi Beerhall at Basera where he has left his fans crying for more.
“My dream is to take Zimdance Hall to greater heights and possibly to the world. I encourage all upcoming artists to be strong because there are a lot of challenges in the music industry,” he said.
The artist sat for his ‘O’ Level examinations at a private school in Gweru before recording his first song Shungu Dzangu at First Class Studio in the same city.
“The song was a special dedication to my mother, Naume Zivenge who did her best to supplement my father’s meagre salary to fend for the family which is made up of five girls and two boys. I am the third born in the family,” he said.
Madhuyu said he was not attached to any recording studio and used different studios depending on how the producer operates.local

MASVINGO – Newly-elected Mwenezi East Member of Parliament Joosbi Omar has made a vow to represent and transform the livelihoods of the people of Mwenezi East despite economic challenges being faced by the country.
Omar said the absence of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will not stop him from delivering on the mandate assigned to him by the people of Mwenezi East.
“I have always held the people of Mwenezi East dear to my heart. They have always looked up to me way before I started to show my political ambitions. Now that the the time was ripe, they chose me to represent them in the August house. They know that I am capable of transforming their lives,” said Omar.
He said the absence of CDF will not hold him back because he chose to be a servant of the people.
“We have heard of cases where MPS have stopped initiating projects in their areas because they say the CDF is no longer available.
“A true representative of the people should find the means to source money for development. If needs be, you should go into your own pocket to better the lives of the people. This is what I am doing and will not stop until Mwenezi East becomes a better place,” said Omar.
He said he will represent everyone in Mwenezi East regardless of their political or religious affiliations.
“I may not have received the votes of everyone but I am not going to leave behind even those who did not vote for me. I will represent everyone,” said Omar.
“I have started working on the road network and as we speak some of the bridges which have been washed away by the recent floods have been repaired.
“People say my Muslim religion will affect my relations with the people but that is far from the truth. I will work closely with the Christian community and the traditional leadership,” he added.politics

MASVINGO – A prominent magistrate caused a scene last Saturday night at Caravan Park in Masvingo after he pulled a gun to intimidate security personnel so that he could gain free entry into Jah Prayzah’s show.
The magistrate, who appeared to be drunk, allegedly produced a pistol after being asked to pay for the ticket.
Two security details, Tawanda Watch and Vincent Majinga said they were threatened by the magistrate after they asked him to pay his entrance fee.
“As we went about selling tickets to motorists who were queueing for entry, I got to where the magistrate was and kindly asked for the payment. The magistrate then produced a pistol and said that was the ticket,” Majinga said.
This reporter arrived during the skirmishes and heard the magistrate shouting that the junior police officers who were present cannot do anything.
“Hapana zvamunondiita mese. Kana muchida kundisunga munotuudza boss wenyu.…(name withheld). Anoda kundisunga ngaapinde muno mumota titonomuona izvozvi pandamusiya paAminas apo (No one among you can touch me. If you want to arrest me, you should tell your boss …. to do so because he is the only one who can arrest me. Let someone jump into the car so that we can go and meet him (the boss) at Aminas where I left him,” the magistrate shouted.
Police details who were around finally restrained the magistrate and searched his car before they recovered the pistol. They took the magistrate away but surprisingly the magistrate was back few minutes later and attended Jah Prayzah show.local

Phillip Matikiti who resides in village 49 Magaragada under Chief Makoni in Rusape was last week robbed at gun point at around midday after boarding a private vehicle which was travelling towards Harare.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident and said the police were doing all they could to catch the criminals.
“We have a robbery case where Phillip Matikiti lost valuables to armed robbers. As the police, we are doing all we can to find these people and investigations are already underway. Anyone with helpful information should report to the nearest police station. We also urge the public to make use of public transport so as to avoid incidents like these,” Inspector Kakohwa said.
Matikiti boarded a gray Isuzu with two adult males in it in the afternoon on April 20 but the driver suddenly stopped the car after crossing Rusape Bridge at Crocodile Mortal.
His companion produced a pistol and pointed it to the complainant demanding him to surrender all his possessions.
The helpless man surrendered his LG cell phone, a Samsung power bank, a USB cable and cash amounting to US$120 before they pushed him out of the car.
Matikiti reported the case to Rusape Central Police station on the same day but no arrests had been made by the time of writing.local

But Mapombi is not sure the coalition between opposition parties will yield anything. We want real political parties to coalesce not opportunists.
If Morgan Tsvangirai is not careful he will end up signing agreements with useless people. Yes, I said useless people. Clueless people like Gumbo and Mutasa. Mapombi is also thinking of signing MoU with Tsvangirai kkkkkk why not kana vana Punha vava kungopindawo muCoalition.
But this ZimPF is really a joke. There is virtually nothing good to write home about these comrades except the firing and counter firing. Not so long ago, Gumbo and Mutasa claimed that they fired Joice Mujuru after she dumped them to form National People’s Party (NPP), and now they fired Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, Agrippa Mutambara and others again.
The fun part of it is that Gumbo and Mutasa know that they do not have leadership qualities or what it takes to be president of a political party but they do not want to appoint someone to lead. People chose Mutambara, Bhasikiti and others to lead but the two clueless old men refused and reacted by firing Bhasikiti and Mutambara.
Kkkkkk munyamai nhai Bhasikiti? Kubva waita senge wakagezera pamharadzano dzenzira? Kuita munyama senge wezizi chokwadi. First was uncle Bob who accused you of being in the wrong basket and subsequently relieved you of your duties as the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Masvingo before recalling you from Parliament as well.
You then decided to follow Joice Mujuru but the former vice president dumped you again when she formed her National People’s Party (NPP) and you remained with the two clueless ZimPF co-founders Gumbo and Mutasa. Now the clueless Cdes claim they have fired you. Aaah umwe munyama wacho unotoushaya kuti unobvepi. Chokwadi kudzingiwawo naGumbo and Mutasa of all the people? It is high time you try something different; maybe farming. Zviri nani kurima mabhurumango kufarm kuMwenezi uko. Mapombi would like to warn Tsvangirai – be careful with whom you sign MoUs with otherwise munotikumbira nemarara. Mapombi knows Tsvangirai is desperate to win the 2018 elections and he has pinned his hopes on a coalition. Please take it easy! Mapombi will always tell you the truth – coalition with ZimPF is disastrous.  Gumbo and Mutasa will certainly cause confusion – the only thing they are good at is firing others. Kkkkkk hanzi they had but fired themselves from the party. I can foresee these two comrades having a press conference saying Tsvangirai has but fired himself from the coalition and we are now the co-leaders of the coalition kkkkkk zvimadhara izvi.
I am really tired of staying here at Dr Grace Mugabe Trading Centre – the place is filthy and Tsvangirai is my last hope for a better future. In 1980 we entrusted Mugabe with everything but zvakatumwa wabvira – he has been at the helm for the past 37 years asi chabuda hapana. I am even poorer than I was in 1980. Thus the reason I want Tsvangirai to be given a chance but mukada kukara comrade hazvibude itai henyu steady. Leave this ZimPF thing and join hands with real democrats – the likes of ana Biti, Ncube, Job Sikhala uyu we99 zve uyu and Joice.  But if you want confusion then try to sign an MoU with Gumbo and Mutasa. They still have that confusion from Zanu PF.

MUTARE – Ongoing Zanu PF fights have not spared Manicaland province with party provincial chairperson Samuel Undenge, whom many blame for failing to control his wife, being slapped with a vote of no confidence last week.
Undenge is accused of failing to reign in his wife Letina, who is the national women’s league secretary for administration.
Letina is allegedly interfering with the smooth running of the provincial women’s league as well as the provincial youth league.
In a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting marred by tension held last week in Mutare, a vote of no confidence was passed against Undenge while Letina’s fate was expected to be in the hands of the national women’s league.
During the meeting, Zanu PF Manicaland provincial spokesperson Oliver Mandipaka said Letina’s case will be forwarded to the national women’s league.
“A vote of no confidence has been passed on the provincial chairman while Letina’s case will be forwarded to the national women’s league,” said Mandipaka.
Provincial vice chairperson Beauty Benge said pleaded with First lady Grace Mugabe to help them get rid of the Undenges.
“The First Lady should stop Letina’s behaviour. We are begging her (Grace) to take Letina so that she will be working in Harare and not here in Mutare. We invite national members from the women’s league but she has been calling for different meetings. Her behaviour is not tolerated here.
“Letina is creating parallel structures as we are nearing the 2018 elections and she should be stopped. We are also saying ‘no’ to chairman Samuel Undenge because he has been watching this and doing nothing about it. He should go together with Saviour Kasukuwere,” Benge said.
Zanu PF provincial youth member Kudzi Madhara told Undenge, who was also in the meeting, that Letina’s behaviour was now costing him as her husband.
“The problems we are facing here in Manicaland are coming from your wife. This issue should be brought to the provincial coordinating committee meetings. Her behaviour is now costing you,” he said.
In response, Undenge said he will have a look at all the issues which were raised.
“I will surely take a look at all your problems and I am sure they are going to be solved,” said Undenge.
Also to come under fire was the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Christopher Chingosho after youths charged at him for claiming that Kudzai Chipanga was creating parallel structures in Headlands.
Manicaland Youth Chairman Mubuso Chiguno who seemed to be offended by Chingosho’s utterances said the youth league would not take it lightly when their leader was being falsely accused.
“Chingosho was lying and we could not just stand and watch our youth leader being accused. That’s why the youths wanted to deal with him.
Meanwhile Manicaland has joined other provinces in passing a vote of no confidence on Saviour Kasukuwere.politics

Harare City Queens were crowned the 2017 champions after dismissing ZDF 27-7 in a pre season Netball Open Tournament played at Stoddard Hall in Harare recently.
Speaking after the tournament, Zimbabwe National Super League fixture secretary Agnes Chiroodza said she was impressed by the high quality of competition among the participants.
“We held our pre-season tournament last weekend and all the expected teams came. I was impressed with the high levels of competition exhibited by all the teams which took part. We hope to have a fruitful 2017 season.
“New teams that gained promotion include Platinum Queens from Zvishavane, ZRP Tomlinson, Flow Angels and Dolphins all from Harare. The tournament acted as an induction for the new teams,” said Chiroodza.
Chiroodza said that no team was relegated from the national league.
All the matches were played on a round robin basis where eight teams progressed to the quarter finals with ZDF dismissing the Dennis Dauya – guided Beta Queens 15-9. The Correctional Services team lost to Harare City 14 – 23.
Ruwa were trashed 9-19 by ‘new girls’ Platinum Queens. Zimplats beat Tomlinson 25-4. In the semi-finals, Platinum Queens suffered a 21-7 humiliation at the hands of ZDF. Harare City dismissed Zimplats 14-10 to book a place in the finals.
Harare City then edged ZDF 27-7 in the finals to be crowned champions.
Paida Pedzisai of Zimplats was voted best shooter while Stembile Chitova of Harare City was voted best defender. Estla Ndlovu of Harare City was voted Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile Mutare’s only representative in the National Super League, City Queens will be looking to finish in a better position this year after finishing at seventh position last season.sport

29 April 2017, Mutare City Rovers’ newly-appointed coach Masimba Dinyero has embarked on a team rebuilding process ahead of the new season which he aims to use as a launch pad to a Premier Soccer League (PSL) return.
The Mutare-based soccer outfit was relegated from the top flight league last season under the stewardship of Takura Shariwa who is now in charge of PSL newcomers Shabani Mine FC.
Speaking on his vision for Mutare City Rovers, Dinyero said he was on a serious team rebuilding process as other players left the team following their relegation last year.
“I am in the process of assembling a strong team that will compete for the PSL ticket in the Eastern Region Division One League. Some players left the team following its relegation last season.
“We will work hard because soccer loving fans in Mutare need a team to represent them in the PSL,” said Dinyero.
Mutare City Rovers will also fight for the first position against former PSL outfit Buffaloes who missed a return to the top flight league to Yadah FC.
Buffaloes have since relocated from Mutare to Rusape and will be using Vhengere stadium as their home ground ahead of the new season in Division One.
Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) – sponsored Tenax FC also pose as a threat to Mutare City Rovers after the team merged with Hwahwa, Flame Lily and Ntabazintuna to form one strong team that will represent ZPCS.sport
