Pupil steals teacher’s motor cycle

MUTARE – A
Mweyamutsvene High School pupil recently appeared before Mutare magistrate
Purity Gumbo on charges stealing a motor bike from his teacher.
Kevin
Zimhandu (20) of Dhaure Village under Chief Zimunya was remanded to July 23
after pleading guilty to the charge.
He
admitted stealing an SAM 125 motorcycle from Charles Dhaure, a school teacher
at Mweyamutsvene High School.
State
witness Chris Munyuki charged that on July 16, 2019, Zimhandu unlawfully took the
motor cycle from the owner’s house and sold it to Itai Chada.
On
July 19, the complainant was informed by some villagers about the whereabouts of
his motor cycle. Dhaure recovered his cycle from Chada’s house and it came to
light that it had been stolen by Zimhandu. 
In
his plea of guilt, Zimhandu told the court that he stole the motor cycle for a joy
ride.
In
another case Zimhandu appeared before the same magistrate for stealing a solar
battery from Linda Chitsike of Dhaure village under Chief Zimunya.
He
was remanded to July 23 after pleading not guilty to a charge of theft.
It
is alleged that on a day not known to the prosecutor but in July 2019, Zimhandu
unlawfully entered Chitsiku homestead and took the solar battery from Linda’s
bedroom.
The
two matters were reported to Marange Police Station leading to Zimhandu’s
arrest.
