17 Feb 2017 – MASVINGO – It was all joy last at Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Mapanzure assembly last Sunday as they celebrated and unveiled their Nissan one tonne truck for which assembly members worked hard to buy.
The assembly, also known as House of Kings, led by Pastor Elias Jinjika managed to raise enough money to purchase the much needed truck for the assembly.
Speaking to TellZim News, Pastor Jinjika applauded the hard work and unity shown by the congregation in the journey to the purchase of the truck.
“When I first came here, I saw that the people of the assembly loved the Lord and they had unlimited potential to do great things despite the fact that they are from a rural set up.
“I would like to thank the vibrant leadership that we have at our assembly and every member of the congregation for all their contributions. I just pray that God will bless them abundantly because they are a wonderful church,” said an elated Pastor Jinjika.
The congregants could not hide their joy as their truck was unveiled with many of them saying they were amazed by the way God had shown his hand in the church.
“I am happy to see our assembly moving forward working for the Lord. We worked very hard as a church together with our pastor and now we have acquired our own truck. We are happy that the work of God will be much easier for us as an assembly,” said a church member.
The function was attended by Pastor Tawanda Sakadzo and his wife together with Pastor Mudzitirwa from Kwekwe among others church faithful.
Pastor Sakadzo is from a sister assembly called Worship Centre in Gunikuni.religious

17 Feb 2017 – MWENEZI – A critically ill 27-year-old Mwenezi man, who has been battling for his life at Neshuro District Hospital for months after he was injured in a freak accident while offloading cement from a truck, has pleaded with well-wishers to help her meet the treatment costs.
Phineas Chauke of Mukahamari village, Chief Neshuro, was discharged from hospital for home-based care last Monday, although he had indicated a few days earlier that he would prefer to stay in hospital as his condition was still dire.He said home-based care was not ideal as he could not afford the medication and to pay the person who will professionally administer the medicine.
Chauke sustained spinal injuries after the door of the truck’s side trailer hit him below the chest while doing a piece job offloading cement at Chingwanga hardware at Neshuro growth point some months ago.
While trying to open the truck load, Chauke was hit by the side door of the truck whose load was reportedly some more than 600 bags of cement.
He fell down and some bags of cement fell on top of him.
He was initially transferred from Neshuro hospital to Masvingo General Hospital from where he was again referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) and later on to Parerenyatwa Hospital where he underwent surgery and discharged.
His condition has however deteriorated of late and he has developed deep sores on his backside and legs.local

17 Feb 2017 – MASVINGO – Four candidates successfully filed their papers with the nomination court which sat at the Masvingo Magistrates Court this afternoon to contest in the Mwenezi East parliamentary by-election scheduled for April 8.
The four candidates are Joosbi Omar of Zanu PF, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti of ZimPF, Welcome Masuku of National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) and Mango Turner of Free Zimbabwe Congress.
Speaking to TellZim News after the close of the nomination court, Omar said he was confident of winning the seat so that he can coordinate development in the area.
“I am very confident of our chances as Zanu PF because there is no competition for us. There are a lot of projects in stock for the people of Mwenezi East. I am a developer so I want to implement a lot of programmes in line with ZimAsset,” said Omar.
Bhasikiti also exuded confidence at the close of the nomination court, saying the people of Mwenezi were ready for an alternative to Zanu PF.
“We will win the seat because people are tired of the failed policies of the ruling party. The Zimbabwe People First is the only alternative for the people of Mwenezi who are tired of being lied to,” said Bhasikiti.
This publication also managed to speak to Masuku who said the NCA presented a chance for the people of Mwenezi East to vote for a candidate who cares for the people.
“We are very confident of our chances in Mwenezi East. We have held some meetings with the people there and have listened to their concerns. People want good leadership because they know Zanu PF has created all the problems that the people face. The people cannot vote for thieves, only the NCA will deliver on its promises,” said Masuku.
He also indicated the party was doing well considering that it was only formed in 2013 saying it would build upon its performance in last month’s Bikita West by-election where it got 343 votes.politics

‘Zinara tender corruption responsible for road mess’

Beatific Gumbwanda

17 Feb 2017 – CHIREDZI – Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (CHIRRA) has attributed tender corruption by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) to the appalling state of some roads in Chiredzi, saying undeserving companies were being given tenders.
This follows the deterioration of Chiredzi’s Lion Drive barely two months after it was commissioned.
Lion Drive was surfaced by a company known as Clime Construction on behalf of Zinara but the road has disintegrated spectacularly and it now looks worse than roads that have been there for 50 years and more.
CHIRRA chairperson, Jonathan Muusha Mupamombe said the public was being deprived of their right to proper services because of official corruption in high places.
“We blame Zinara for this mess. Their corrupt tender system has benefited a few individuals at huge expense to the rate-paying public.
“Zinara told us that they haven’t paid Clime Construction in full so to make peace residents, Clime Construction must fully reconstruct the road at their own expense and they must do a proper job this time,” said Mupamombe.
Clime Construction is reportedly owned by Munyaradzi Harovi, a Masvingo-based business man who has been nicknamed ‘Bvura-Bvura’ – a satirical moniker for a shoddy way of carrying out tasks.
After the Lion Drive debacle became apparent in January, council condemned the road and it was said the company did not have a solid track record in civil engineering, but had won the tender nonetheless.
“I have condemned Lion Drive because it was not done well as potholes have developed. I have since informed Zinara of the present situation and we are no longer going to pay Clime Construction of their balance because they are supposed to reconstruct it,” Chiredzi Town Council chairperson, Francis Moyo told TellZim News then.
The Lion Drive project was finished way behind schedule and after a public outcry from stakeholders.
When contacted for comment, Munyaradzi ‘Bvura-Bvura’ Harovi accused this publication of publishing falsehoods.
“There is nothing I can tell you. Why didn’t you consult with me first? Write what you want there with your councillors I don’t mind,” Harovi said.local

17 Feb 2017 – MWENEZI – The Local Authority Capacity Enhancement Project (LACEP), an organisation funded by the European Union (EU), has channelled funds to the Mwenezi Rural District Council (MRDC) to cater for solid waste management.
The organisation released the funding for the improvement of rubbish disposal at Rutenga and Neshuro growth points as well as the installation of bins in other areas as part of its drive to reduce littering and maintain healthy surroundings.
LACEP project coordinator, Philip Kundishora said the programme to support environmental cleanliness as well as help rural and urban councils to better manage the environment would continue up until midyear.
“We have projects with 13 councils in the country; five in urban councils and eight in rural councils. In Masvingo province, our focus is Mwenezi RDC, Bikita RDC and Chiredzi.
“In these councils, authorities identify an area where they feel there is a gap, and then LACEP chips in with the assistance. As for Mwenezi RDC, they have decided to focus on solid waste management,” said Kundishora.
MRDC executive officer for Agriculture and the Environment, Kudzai Sirewu expressed gratitude to LACEP and said the council was going on a clean-up campaign in the district.
“We received funds from LACEP late last year and we have already embarked on a number of programmes like community sensitisation. We will also have a four-hour clean-up campaign at Neshuro growth point on 22 February and another four-hour cleaning of Rutenga on 15 March 2017.
“In other parts of the district where the clean-up may not reach, we intend to establish bins. All the stakeholders have already been engaged,” said Sirewu.
Sirewu said a temporary shut-down of businesses during the clean-up campaigns was expected so as to make sure that everyone participates.
MRDC is also looking for more funding to make sure that no part of the district will be left out.local

Corruption suspicion at Chiredzi croc farm

Shuvai Mahofa

…as Mahofa ‘lies’ about BIPPA status

Moses Ziyambi

17 Feb 2017 – MASVINGO – There are suspicions of corruption involving Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Shuvai Mahofa’s dealings with the Chiredzi Wildlife Investments, the holding company running a crocodile farm in Chiredzi, after her claims that the farm is protected by a Bilateral Investment Protection Agreement (BIPPA) were found to be false.
The crocodile farm has been at the centre of controversy after a young man from Zaka, Gilbert Nyasha invaded the farm last month, claiming he had an offer letter given to him in 2012 to occupy the farm.
It was also widely reported that Mahofa was blocking Nyasha’s takeover, claiming the farm was covered by the BIPPA which obligates Zimbabwe to exempt German investments from compulsory acquisition.
Directors of the company, Jeffrey Howard Sommer and Henry Allan Sommer have been discovered to be not German as widely claimed, but Zimbabwean, leading to widespread suspicions that Mahofa was being paid to protect the Sommer brothers.
TellZim News saw a certified copy of a company registration (CR 14) certificate of the wildlife company, dated December 1, 2005 and signed by J.H Sommer, which lists the Sommer brothers as Zimbabwean.
Other directors who are listed are Paul Meadley (deceased) and Ethan Gilbert Dube both of whom are also listed as Zimbabwean.
When contacted for comment, Mahofa initially affirmed that the farm was indeed protected by the BIPPA between Germany and Zimbabwe but later referred this reporter to Zimparks and the lands offices that she said are in a better position to explain.
“Nyasha came to my office with people from the lands office to get clarification. The lands people had failed to verify his claim and I too queried why he had failed to move onto the farm for all these years yet he says he got the offer letter in 2012.
“How long does it take to just move onto a piece of land?,” said Mahofa.
She denied reports that she was working in cahoots with the Sommers and was being paid to protect them.
“I didn’t even know them until last week when they came to my office to state their case. How then can you say ndiri kudya navo. Vanhu vari kudya munovaziva asi hamudi kuvanyora,” said Mhofa.
Nyasha has however come out guns blazing, accusing Mahofa of hypocrisy and shielding the Sommers just to protect her narrow interests.
“The minister is on record saying that the recently acquired crocodile farm should be nullified because there is a potential that 60 employees would lose their jobs yet the same minister is supporting the takeover of 4 000 hectares from Tongaat Hullet whereby 2 000 workers have lost their jobs directly. So which one is a bigger scale?,” Nyasha quipped.
“We should not override principles for convenience. Recently, Mr Brian Andrew Cawood was evicted out of his remaining extend at Lot 21A in Mateke where he used to employ around 100 employees. He was a better farmer then the crocodile farm being safeguarded by Mahofa,” said Nyasha.politics

HIT endorses Wonderlife Herb

Moses Ziyambi

17 Feb 2017 – Wonderlife Herb, the multi-purpose herb renowned for its medicinal properties, has received probably its biggest boost so far after clinical studies by the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) confirmed the herb as an effective remedy for various ailments.
The herb, which comes in capsules, was developed by Australia-based Bishop Israel Muzari of the Family of God Church.
In a document released recently titled ‘Confirmatory studies on the efficacy of Wonderlife Herb’, HIT Department of Pharmaceutical Technology classifies the herb as an alternative herbal remedy.
“A total of 50 patients inflicted with HIV and AIDS, diabetes, High Blood Pressure were given the medication. In general 80 % reported improvement in the health conditions and some (15) reported possible total cure of their condition (though still to be confirmed by using standard confirmatory tests).
“In 5 HIV and AIDS cases with baseline CD 4 counts of 100, after taking the herb for a month the CD4 counts went up to an average of  650 and reported general improvement in their medical conditions,” reads part of the document.
One such case is that of Lungile Nyathi whose CD4 count almost dramatically short up a few months after he began taking the herb.
“When he started on Wonderlife Herb, his cd4 count was 333. Eight months later in July 2016 his count was 1,037. It is in respect of HIV cases that Wonderlife has made some of the most dramatic impact. The case stated above is only one of many such cases,” the paper reads.
Prior to the HIT studies, many trials on people suffering from eczema, arthritis, HIV, ulcers, diabetes, dysmenorrhoea, skin diseases among other infections had shown good results.
Monica Thandiwe Mutyasira of Nyazura in Manicaland tested HIV positive in 2008 and had become weak with a very low CD4 count.
In 2014, she started taking the capsules and some eight months later, she found her CD4 count rising from 103 to 1057 and her viral load had become virtually undetectable.
Another woman from Mount Darwin said Wonderlife Herb completely cured her of ulcers that had given her a hard time since 2006.
Clinical trials of wonderlife Herb began in 2016 after Bishop Muzari entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HIT for scientific research to establish the effectiveness of the herb.
The findings that have been made are set to give more people confidence in herbal solutions to infections and terminal illnesses at a time when non-communicable and lifestyle diseases are on the rise in Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole.
The research at HIT also confirmed the herb’s detoxification properties after trials on a Mr Makoni who suffered from a fiercely swollen leg after he got injured in 1999.
He had “23 screws and 2 long plates” inserted into his right femur and “because of the aggressive infection coming from the metal foreign bodies inserted into his femur bone, his legs were swollen extraordinarily since 1999. He was unable to wear shoes because of that,” the document also reads.
It was only in 2016, some 17 years later, that Mr Makoni’s leg became normal again after one month of taking Wonderlife Herb.
Meanwhile, further studies are still being carried out on the herb, and HIT has appealed for urgent funding “to continue with this very important study.”health

Kudakwashe Bhasikiti

…as MDC-T district structures pledge support

Itai Muzondo

17 Feb 2017 – MWENEZI – Former Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti (pictured) has urged opposition parties to unite ahead of the Mwenezi East by-election which he hopes to win come April 8, 2017.
Bhasikiti was selected by his followers to contest the seat on a ZimPF ticket despite being fired from the party last week.
At a gathering held at his Moria Farm, Bhasikiti expressed optimism that he will win back the seat he lost when he was fired from Zanu PF in 2014.
Sources said the meeting was also attended by members of the MDC-T district structures who are keen to show goodwill and contribute to efforts to forge opposition unity against Zanu PF.
Speaking to TellZim News over the phone, Bhasikiti praised MDC-T supporters for backing his Mwenezi ambitions, saying it paved the way for a grand coalition of opposition parties in 2018.
“The presence of MDC-T members showed that the roadmap to a coalition is bright. This was the first sign of good things to come. I am optimistic of what the coalition holds for Zimbabweans,” Bhasikiti said.
He also sought to use the gathering as proof that his faction was in charge of ZimPF, and not Joice Mujuru.
“All went well. I arrived in Mwenezi and the selection process was one way of showing how democratic we are. People asked me to go and represent them in the by-election. The attendance itself revealed that People First iri kunana Bhasikiti,” he said.
MDC-T members who are said to have attended the meeting to endorse Bhasikiti included the women’s league chair, youth chair and district secretary.
Along with Rugare Gumbo, Dydimus Mutasa, Rtrd Col Claudios Makova, Magret Dongo, Munacho Mutezo and Luckson Kandemiri, Bhasikiti was fired form ZimPF by Mujuru over a litany of allegations which include being Zanu PF agents.politics
