CHIVHU – Tendai Speka, wife to Tawanda Munemo, a bishop with the Kutumwa KwaJohane Apostolic Sect in Chivhu, who deserted her husband in September and took away all their household property, is understood to have fled to South Africa to avoid a court case.
The couple lived together for some years but everything turned sour one day in September when the bishop came back from a church service to find his wife, who comes from Rutenga, gone with all the household property.
Munemo then approached his escapee wife’s parents so that the case could be resolved amicably but they reportedly were reluctant to hold their daughter accountable, demanding that their son-in-law pay them two cattle before they could attend to the case.
Munemo then decided to approach the courts over the matter, forcing his panicking ex-wife to flee to the neighbouring country.
“I approached my wife’s parents but vakanditi ukaona mukadzi atiza akauya kumba sezvaakaita izvi unotoripa mombe mbiri totaurirana zvekuti makatadzirana hatinei nazvo. Ndipo pandakafunga kuti regai ndiende kucivil court iye ndokubva atiza akaenda South Africa.
“What I only wanted was for us to share the property but I was shocked when she called me from South Africa after several days. She is however not reachable anymore,” said a Munemo.
Efforts to get the views of Tendai Speka over the matter were fruitless as both her Zimbabwean and South African phone numbers were not reachable.
Close sources however said the property is in the custody of Speka’s brother in village 20, Rutenga.local
