MWENEZI – A-39-year-old Chivi man who went missing for some days early this year before his decomposing head and left leg were found stuck between rocks in Runde River was most probably killed by crocodiles, the Mwenezi Court heard last week.
The inquest hearing of Timson Taruvinga of Zanguru village under Chief Shindi in Chivi ruled out the possibility of foul play and revealed that there is a possibility that he was swept by the river while fishing.
That resulted in him being devoured by crocodiles that reduced him to a broken skeleton with a bit of flesh on his head and left leg that were found in a decomposing state.
Testifying in court, all the relatives of Taruvinga and the investigating officer ruled out the possibility of foul play. Relatives told the court that although they are aware that Taruvinga’s bones and some body parts were found in a decomposing state, the evidence which convinced them that it was indeed Taruvinga was that his usual missing front teeth and one of his left figures that was handicapped.
Magistrate Honest Musiiwa pointed out that though witnesses’ evidence was self-explanatory, he will conclude his findings in a few days’ time.
Taruvinga went missing on January 31, 2017 after he went for fishing in Runde River. His head and left leg, which had some decomposing flesh, was found stuck between the rocks on February 12 this year.
