Danhamombe High School in Chivi will this year host the 2016 Masvingo provincial culture week launch on May 26, 2016.
The culture week, which will be coordinated by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) will be running under the theme, “Culture Week- Towards Increased Community Participation”
NACZ Masvingo Provincial Manager, Helen Mudefi, said the culture week provides an opportunity for people to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity in line with ZimAsset which calls for equal participation especially with the marginalised communities.
“The NACZ has a week-long programme of events called culture week starting on May 21. Culture Week thus provides an opportunity for people to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity,” said Mudefi.
Mudefi added that culture forms an integral part of people’s existence and identity.
“The event addresses the need for co-existence and inter-cultural dialogue taking cognisance of the diversity of culture in Zimbabwe. The theme seeks to encourage the participation of people across the cultural divide in cultural activities and discourse.
“In line with ZimAsset, which advocates the promotion of cultural diversity, Culture Week promotes harmony and ownership of the programme by communities,” said Mudefi.news
