Makwarimba’s son Phainos confirmed the incident saying his father was coming from his farm when the accident took place.
“I can confirm that my father was involved in an accident while he was coming from the farm.  We thank God that he sustained minor injuries. However, he broke his artificial leg during the accident,” said Phainos.
“I think it was just a mechanical fault which led to the accident. I suspect the accident could have been caused by the failure in the front suspension. This forced his car to veer off the road going deep into the forest. However, he managed to drag himself close to the road where he was helped,”  added Phainos.
Makwarimba is a senior Zanu PF politician in Masvingo.
