ZAKA – Mugomeri Village Head, Jeremiah Haruperi, has been appointed as Headman Zibwowa,
TellZim News has learnt.
In a letter seen
by TellZim News from the ministry of local governance to Zaka District
Administrator (DA) Ndeya Nyede, Haruperi’s appointment was with effect from October
30 this year.
“In terms
of Section 8 of the Traditional Leaders Act (Chapter 29:17), the minister has
with effect from 30 October 2018 appointed Jeremiah Haruperi as substantive
Headman Zibwowa of Zaka District,” reads part of the letter.
Nyede also
confirmed the development and said the installation date was up to Chief Nhema.
“The
installation program will be decided by Chief Nhema and he has been busy with
the budget   consultation meetings so we
will start by introducing the new headman to the people so that they know before
we install him.
“The Chief will
then have discussions with the family to set a date for the installation,”
said Nyede.
Haruperi also
said they were only waiting for the Chief’s call to do the installation. He
also said he will work to unite the people of Zibwowa and will work with other
leaders to foster development in the area.
Nhema who is
also a senator representing Chiefs said he will soon hold a meeting with the
Zibwowas and make an arrangement for the installation ceremony.
“I am
currently busy at parliament but I will soon have a meeting with them to
finalise the installation process,” said Chief Nhema
Haruperi is
replacing Stanford Zingwanda who was holding the position on acting basis
following his father’s death a few years ago.
Zibwowa is one
of the six headmen under Chief Nhema who include Chipinda, Muroyi, Magadze,
Chipenzi and Chamburukira.
