10 March 2017, CHIREDZI – Pastor Netsai Kufakwavanhu of the Gilgal Healing Voice and Deliverance Ministries has accused ‘Prophet’ Amos Chari Mapfumo of assaulting her and another church member, Omega Bere, with an ‘anointed’ belt after they had reprimanded him for his alleged womanising behavior.
The pastor told TellZim News that the case has been reported to the Chiredzi Police Station and they want Mapfumo to pay them US$750 in damages.
She claimed that they were assaulted after they had visited his homestead to warn him against his ‘wayward’ behavior of making advances even on married women. She said the prophet’s behavior was tarnishing the church’s reputation.
“Prophet Mapfumo got angry after we criticised his behavior of making advances on women as well as the gospel of prosperity which he likes. We were then assaulted with the so-called anointing belt,” said Pastor Kufakwavanhu, adding that she had now dumped the church.
The pastor said they had raised concern with Mapfumo over his behavior which she alleged was allegedly wreaking marriages in the church.
“He encourages women to look for rich husbands whom he calls ‘zvihuta’. This has shaken and broken many marriages as women are no longer satisfied with the husbands they have,” said Kufakwavanhu.
When contacted for comment, Mapfumo said that he had resolved the issue with the women’s husbands.
“I discussed and resolved the issue with their husbands and I never assaulted them. My hands are for blessing the people not assaulting,” said Prophet Mapfumo.
He also denied that his ministry was profit-driven, saying even if he leaves the ministry; he would carry nothing with him.
“The people who brought that information are wrongly informed. My ministry is a trust and is a nonprofit organisation. I suspect they joined the church with the wrong motive for material gains. We don’t expect that in the ministry,” said Mapfumo.local
