MASVINGO- Comedian Tinaye Wayne brought laughter to Masvingo comedy fans when he
staged his “nothing to hide” stand-up comedy show at Charles Austin Theatre on October 24,
2026 alongside fellow comedian Frank Chirisa.
The show attracted a number of fans and was part of Wayne’s national tour, which has taken him
to Kadoma, Kwekwe, Bulawayo and Harare.
Speaking to TellZim News after the show, Wayne said he was pleased with the support he
received from Masvingo fans, adding that the turnout had exceeded his expectations.
“We did not expect such numbers in Masvingo. People attended and laughed. I am really
grateful. We are going to come back again to Masvingo, and we are waiting for that day because
we are going to have two nights at Charles Austin,” he said.
Wayne, who started his comedy career in 2017, said he had spent years building his career
through stand-up comedy and content creation.
He also revealed that the second season of the bachelors a web series that has attracted interest
from fans, was in the pipeline.
“People are asking for the bachelors. Be aware that its coming back for season two. We are
waiting for funding, but it is promising,” he said.
Chirisa, who is supporting Wayne on his national tour, said he always looked forward to
performing in Masvingo, describing it as one of his favorite cities for comedy.
“For me, I always look forward to performing in Masvingo. I always tell people that Masvingo is
legitimately one of my favorite cities to perform in because I have never had a bad stand-up
comedy show here since I started coming in 2024,” he said.
Chirisa said his comedy career began on February 15, 2020, after friends encouraged him to try
stand-up comedy while he was attending open-mic music and spoken-word sessions in the
western suburbs.
He said his friends often told him he was funny and challenged him to take his talent to the stage.
What started as a challenge from friends has since developed into a career that he continues to
enjoy.
“Since then, it has just been an amazing journey. Every day is getting better, from day one until
now,” he said.
Wayne’s national tour is set to continue, with the two comedians expected to perform in
Bulawayo on November 13.
Wayne said he hoped to return to Masvingo for a two-night show at Charles Austin Theatre,
giving local comedy fans another opportunity to enjoy live stand-up comedy.
