Marange Apostolic man mutilates pregnant wife genitals

A buoyant Marange Apostolic man, who is so observant to his church’s doctrine that forbids members to go to clinics and hospitals, mutilated his pregnant wife’s genital parts in a bid to enlarge the birth canal using a sharp razor blade as the wife struggled to deliver the baby recently.
Chandafira Mutereri holds his newly born baby
Nyevero Dumbu recovering at Gutu hospital after she was mutilated by her husband during birth of her baby
As if that was not enough, Chandafira Mutereri (65) of Chamba village under Chief Chiwara in Gutu, went on to use a needle and twine to stitch the wound soon after the wife delivered the baby.
Mutereri, who confessed that his church does not allow members to seek medical attention, said he decided to use the razor bladed to enlage the birth canal after realising that his wife was struggling to push the baby out.
His first wife died after she developed complications soon after a home delivery and Mutereri had to marry second wife Nyevero Dumbu (29).
Nyevero, who has never set her foot at a clinic or hospital since she got married however, fell pregnant and had to deliver her baby at home.
She however, had complications during the delivery and her husband Mutereri then used a razor blade to widen the birth canal before he used a needle to sew stitches on the preivate parts.
A local healthy officer who was only identified as Mukanye however got wind of the development and visited the homestead before threatening to take Mutereri to the police if he continued to deny his wife access to medication.
It was then Nyevero’s father Taruona Dumbu was informed about the development and immediately took her daughter to Gutu hospital.
“We all tried to knock sense into Chandafira’s head but it did not work. After our daughter delivered at home she begun to show some mental disturbance and her wound on the left foot was getting worse.  Nyevero lost her first two children due to home deliveries and this time around she continued to bleed after giving birth. We later took her to Majada clinic after we were notified by a local health officer,” said Dumbu.
District Social Welfare Officer, Felix Mashamhanda, wrote Nyevero a letter authorising free  medical examination and treatment as and when necessary for the whole year which they took to Majada Clinic.
A nurse on duty at Gutu hospital said Nyevero was recovering well but she urged pregnant women to desist from home deliveries.
“When she arrived here, Nyevero was in a  bad state, the wounds were sceptic and she was bleeding heavily. It was smelling all over.  We forced her to sit on salted water so that the wound opened and healed  faster. The problem is that she is not co-operating. We get into physical fights whenever we want to clean her wounds or give her medication.
“As for the mental state, the condition is called Puerperal Psychosis which might have been caused by the infection from both wounds. The one on her foot was also sceptic together with the one on her private parts. All those might have contributed to her mental problems. It is normal for mothers after birth to suffer fromthe condition but we are now worried about Nyevero since she is not improving. The wounds are, however, healing and  only her mind is not recovering,” the nurse said.
Mutereri however, said there was nothing amiss on Nyevero especially about he delivering at  home.
“I did not mutilate her on my own. Mbuya Mafukidze (an elderly woman from Magombedze village) helped with the cutting. All my wives give birth at home and nothing is amiss about that. Though my first wife later died of cancer in 2012, she used to give birth at home. It’s unfortunate that all the two children she gave birth at home died.
“I give them muteuro from church soon after giving birth but this time i delayed to get the muteuroi since i had no money to buy the eggs, cooking oil and salt which is needed. The wounds were going to heal at their own,” said Mutereri.
A doctor who attended Nyevero who declined to be named said such wounds when left untreated may result in cervical or womb cancer.
“Nyevero’s womb should be checked if its clean; the nfection might have caused damage to the womb. The bleeding has  stopped but we have to clean the womb so that she can be able to  have other children in future,” said the doctor.
Mutereri however, was worried that his church members would not welcome him anymore since he had gone against the doctrine.
“I have sinned and now I am an outcast.  If I find money today  I can buy beer and start drinking because there is no way I am goingh to be forgiven for taking my wife to the clinic. This is against the church doctrine (zvinopesana nechitendero ched),” said Mutereri.
The nurses said Nyevero’s three weeks old child was healthy and was still admitted in the children’s ward. The nurses were forcing Nyevero to breastfeed the child since she saometimes fail to recongise the baby.
Nyevero’s family however, was requesting for her discharge so that they can take her to traditional healers for help. The family her mental problem was as a result of bad omen from her husband’s family.

Biggie Zuze has finally taken over the hot seat at Triangle FC following the depaurture of gaffer Kelvin Kaindu (KK) who is said to have joined another Premier Soccer League (PSL) side, How Mine.
Biggie Zuze
Triangle FC, which was expecting Kaindu to return to Gibbo Stadium this seasons, were forced to appoint Zuze as head coach after Kaindu nethier communicated nor turned up for training sessions this year.
The club chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze could not confirm Kaindu’s whereabouts but said the club has since appointed Zuze as the head coach while they are still working on appointing other technical team members.
“All I can say is that Kaindu did not return this season and Biggie Zuze is in charge of the boys for the mean time. We are likely to appoint a new technical bench that will support Zuze. We are still reorganizing our team and we have not yet finalized on the technical team, but certainly Zuze will have one or two assistants to work with,” said Matikinyidze.
He however, said Triangle will be stronger than before this season and the Sugar Sugar Boys will fight for the championship.
Matikinyidze said they are building a formidable side that can win the championship this season.

Meanwhile, Kaindu is said to have signed a two year contract with How Mine FC. Zuze has been with Triangle FC for  quite a number of years and he was assistant to Kaindu last season.

Gutu kidnapping duo remanded in custody

Kennedy Murwira

The duo of Mercy Mashava, wife to Gutu Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, Alexander Mutembwa and Karen Shenjere, wife to the council engineer,  who are facing charges of assault, theft and kidnapping were last Friday remanded in custody to the 5th of February while they await their trial which may be held in the High Court.

The duo initially appeared in court two weeks ago facing charges of forcibly abducting Vaida Chiripanyanga   from Gutu Garage and assaulting her on allegations that she was having an affair with Karen’s husband. They were remanded out of custody on free bail to the 15th of January when their defense counsel, Claudius Tafirei  and Chikwari of Tafirei and Chikwari Legal Practitioners  applied for postponement with the intention to change the 'guilty' plea which the duo had entered at their first appearance.

The two women lured Chiripanyanga from the garage through WhatsApp messages that were sent through Shenjere’s mobile number and took her to an undisclosed location where they undressed her and severely assaulted her. They had blindfolded her as soon as they met her at the garage and while Karen drove the motor vehicle Mercy assaulted the complainant. After the assault the duo allegedly poured petrol over the complainant with the intention of setting her alight. They later dumped her at the garage where they had picked her before she sought medical treatment and made a report to the police. TellZim News understands from reliable sources that it was only after Mercy’s intervention that the attempted murder did not take place.

The defense counsel continued to apply for postponement based on change of plea while he could not furnish the court with the relevant application details.

The duo’s remand on free bail had been a matter of concern for the general public who felt that considering the seriousness of the offence the duo should have been remanded in custody.

Chiripanyanga was represented by Tungamirai Chakurira while Gutu resident magistrate, Edwin Marecha presided over the matter. Prosecutor Millicent Azangwe appeared for the State.

Mpandawana’s new Town Board selected

Kennedy Murwira
The much awaited new Mpandawana Town Board was finally selected last Thursday at a meeting that was chaired by council chairman, Nicholas Zambara, as the returning officer and was attended by officials from different ministries.
Gabriel Mapepa
Councillors Gabriel Mapepa (Ward 37), Basta Mafio (Ward 33), Japson Nemashakwe (Ward 34) and Enock Rutsvara (Ward 7) were duly elected into the Town Board. They were joined by Brighton Koke who represents the business community and Mrs Susan Samatanga representing the residents.
Councillor Nemashakwe lost to Councillors Mapepa and Mafio respectively for the positions of chairman and vice-chairman. He was duly elected as the first committee member. The secretary to the board is still to be appointed.
In an interview with TellZim News Mapepa said first and foremost on the agenda was the improvement of relations between the new Town Board, the business community and the town’s residents.
“Secondly we would like to lure investment from across the country and even beyond its borders. Our industry is down on its knees and there is need to look into that as a priority area. You will also realise that there are no sporting or recreational facilities in the town and that is an area of concern which we will also seek to address,” Mapepa said.
Mapepa said, to make their dream come true there was need to increase the new Town Board’s revenue base. He said this could be done putting by-laws in place that ensured that all transport operators paid gate entry fees to get into the bus terminus.
“At the moment we are losing a substantial amount of money to transport operators who do not use the bus terminus but choose to pick up passengers at undesignated points. By-laws should be put in place that ensure that all operators use the terminus and those found picking up passengers at undesignated points outside the prescribed area should pay hefty fines towards the Town Board’s revenue base,” he said.
Mapepa added that there was need for the Town to consider the construction of at least two more primary schools and one secondary school to absorb the growing school-going population of the new town. He said existing schools were already heavily congested and the residential areas continued to grow every year.
Mapepa said the new Town Board will initially work together with the council until the board eventually takes over the running of the new town.

Former Masvingo Rural District Council (MRDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Clemence Makwarimba and now Zanu PF strongman in Masvingo was invoved in a car accident on Sunday evening.
The wreckage of the vehicle Clemence Makwarimba was driving
The accident happened around 8pm just after Stop Over along Masvingo – Great Zimbabwe highway.
Clemence Makwarimba
Makwarimba’s son Phainos confirmed the incident saying his father was coming from his farm when the accident took place.
“I can confirm that my father was involved in an accident while he was coming from the farm.  We thank God that he sustained minor injuries. However, he broke his artificial leg during the accident,” said Phainos.
“I think it was just a mechanical fault which led to the accident. I suspect the accident could have been caused by the failure in the front suspension. This forced his car to veer off the road going deep into the forest. However, he managed to drag himself close to the road where he was helped,”  added Phainos.
Makwarimba is a senior Zanu PF politician in Masvingo.

N. Richards manager in over $300 000 scam

N.Richards Group (NRG) has lost over US$300 000 at its Masvingo hardware shops in a well-organised cement scam in the buying and purchasing department, TellZim News has learnt.
Police have since opened a case against Alfonsina Kaitano, a buyer at N.Richards Group, who is alleged to be at the centre of the scandal.
Kaitano is being represented by Frank Chirairo of Saratoga and Makausi Law Chambers and the case has since been taken to court where it was referred back for further investigations. The court will proceed by way of summons once investigation officers are done with their work.
N. Richards Group Director, Andrew Chekani confirmed there was a case under investigation at the company but refused to shed more light.
“There is a case under investigation but I cannot give any details because the matter is being handled by the police,” said Chekani.
Chekani also refused to state the exact amount that has been lost in the scandal but TellZim News is reliably informed that money for least 70 truck loads of cement which were sold last year could not be accounted for. It is alleged that the cement was stolen and injected into the market where it was sold at very low prices.
TellZim News has also established the scandal may soon rope in a manager of another company who is suspected to have been the main buyer of the loot. The manager in question would sell the loot at his cement outlets dotted in places such as Bhuka, Nemanwa and Checheche.
“It is understood the buyer of the stolen cement would then sell it at his numerous shops in and around Masvingo,” said a source who refused to be identified.
Kaitano is alleged to have exploited a loophole in the N.Richards Group’s purchasing department to divert loads of cement to illicit buyers.

Wife bashes Gutu cop at small house

Gutu married cop Shawman Mahuda will live to rue the day he was caught by his matrimonial wife stark naked in bed with another woman in Hwiru residential area last week.

Shawman Mahuda admitted at Gutu Hospital

Mahuda who was severely beaten by his wife Florence had to be rushed to Gutu Mission hospital where he is receiving medical attention.
TellZim News was informed that it all started when Florence had some misunderstandings with her hubby to the extent that she would lock him out of their house leaving him without an option besides looking for alternative accommodation whenever they quarrelled.
Luck ran out for Mahuda last week when Florence received a tip from a friend who informed her that her husband was having quality time at a ‘small house’ ‘s place’.
Florence tracked her husband until she caught him right in the act with a lady identified as Memory Rukava. Florence used firewood to beat both Memory and Mahuda.
Speaking to TellZim News, soon after the fracas, Memory said she had a long relationship with Mahuda who would call her whenever he wanted to have sex with her.
“Shawman and I had an affair for a long time and whenever he wanted to have sex with me, he would call me anytime just like what he did before he came here. He called me this morning telling me that he was going to come to my place as usual and when he came, thirty minutes after his arrival I heard a knock at my door and a voice telling me that it was Shawman’s wife.
“I opened the door and that is when Florence slapped me several times before she went on to beat her husband with firewood until it broke into pieces. However, Shawman’s wife made me realise that Mahuda’s real name was not Tapiwa but Shawman,” said Memory.
Mahuda threatened TellZim News with unspecified action if they dared publish the story. He used unprintable words as he threatened this reporter.

Tsvangirai slates 5 rallies for Masvingo

TellZim Reporter

It seems the Joice Mujuru led People First’s recruitment strategy has send other political parties in a panic mode with the latest developments seeing the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) leader Morgan Tsvangirai planning to hold five rallies as well as supervising the structure audit for Masvingo within one week in early February.
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai

Sources who spoke to this publication revealed that Tsvangirai will meet the Masvingo provincial executive this Saturday for an emergency meeting at their Rhodene offices.  The meeting which is expected to be explosive will see the MDC-T leader addressing issues to do with infighting, restructuring and defections after some of his members are rumoured to have joined Mujuru.
The provincial executive is also still working on the rest of Tsvangirai’s itinerary, with his first star rally slated for Mashate Business Centre on February 13, 2016.
Party national spokesperson Obert Gutu confirmed that Tsvangirai was coming to Masvingo but he could not be drawn in to giving exact dates saying he wanted to get the itinerary from responsible authorities’ within the party.
“It is true the president is coming to Masvingo for structures’ audit but I do not have exact dates at the moment,” said Gutu.
All members who are in party structures were last week called for an emergency meeting in Masvingo last weekend where the organisers wanted to fill in the vacant posts before Tsvangirai’s visit.
Similar meetings were held in all seven districts of Masvingo. However, according to the sources, Tsvangirai will not be able to visit Zaka and Mwenezi.
“Tsvangirai is coming for marathon meetings and rallies. The first rally will be at Mashatate on February 13 while other rallies will be held in Chiredzi, Bikita, Gutu and Chivi.
“Tsvangirai will also be doing head count – at this time he wants to see every post being occupied and he want to see the people occupying those positions physically, thus why we are running around to make sure that we will not be found wanting when the president comes,” said the source.
Sources said there was great fear that some people were within MDC-T structures were crossing the floor going to People First.
“I am sure if he comes – even those on the verge of crossing the floor would think twice. We are eagerly waiting for him to come and restore hope to our colleagues in the party,” said another source.

ZANU-PF suspends eight Bikita councillors

ZANU-PF provincial executive has recently suspended eight (8) Bikita councillors for allegedly working with the former Vice President Joice Mujuru and her allies in the province as well as distributing food aid to non-ZANU-PF members in their wards.
Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chair Ezra Chadzamira Ruvai
Councillors Dakarai Chitokomere of Ward 6, Nathan Zeya of Ward 8, Sign Mukanganwi of Ward 10 and Thomas Mafanise of Ward 16 were given their suspension letters on Wednesday last week.
Makuvaza of Ward 5, Mukaka of Ward 23 and Peason Mutume of Ward 24 were yet to receive their official suspension letters by the time of going to press but sources confirmed that they were also on the suspension list.
Suspended councillors who spoke to TellZim News said other allegations being levelled against them include that of not having cordial relationships with party chairs in their wards. They are also being accused of giving opposition party supporters food aid donated by non-governmental organizations.
“We were called to the ZANU-PF district offices on Wednesday where Amasi Nenjana, Isaac Mashanda, Thomas Chireshe and other party bosses gave us suspension letters. My suspension had several accusations including working with former Vice President Joice Mujuru in bringing down ZANU-PF,” Mafanise said.
“Other accusations included giving food aid that comes from non-governmental organisations to everyone instead of giving it to ZANU-PF supporters only, which is not practical to me since my induction as councillor taught me not to politicise food aid from NGO’s. I am also being accused of absconding party meetings. I know nothing about all these allegations,” he added.
“My suspension letter said that I do not work well with party ward chairperson. I am surprised since I had previously reported that my ward chairperson had barred me from calling her. How could I have had a cordial working relationship with that person? The party has also accused me of receiving goods donated by Mujuru to my ward which I am not aware of. I have also asked them to provide proof that I am working with Mujuru but they have failed,” Zeya argued.
Mafanise confirmed that if he is expelled he will be comfortable to make Mujuru’s camp his new home though Zeya sounded reluctant saying he will just sit until another opportunity comes his way.
“What would you expect me to do? If sacked, I will just join Mujuru. All I look into is settling in a party with a revolutionary background,” Mafanise said.
“If fired I will just sit. Where would I go? I had settled for ZANU-PF and no other party but since I will not be affiliated to any party if expelled, when opportunities come, I will move and advance my political career,” added Zeya.
ZANU-PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Ezra Chadzamira confirmed the suspensions though he would not make further comments arguing the fate facing the councillors in question were still under investigation by the disciplinary committee.
“In ZANU-PF we do not just fire but we follow disciplinary procedures. It is after we received reports that these councillors were working with Mujuru that we engaged the disciplinary team to investigate on allegations they were facing before we can take any action. The disciplinary team led by Amasi Nenjana will have to provide such evidence (that they are working with Mujuru) against these councillors if they are to be fired. We do not just fire without any evidence,” Chadzamira said.
These suspensions are coming barely a fortnight after ZANU-PF politburo member Josaya Hungwe urged the Masvingo provincial party executive to slow down when it comes to expelling fellow members from the party.

Jaboon difies Hungwe

…as Mujuru video causes stir in Zanu PF

Itai  Muzondo

Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Commissar (PC)  Jeppy Jaboon, who was forced by Josaya Hungwe to swallow a humble pie in the Provincial Co-coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting recently, has since come out with guns blazing saying no one had the capacity to stop him from exposing party members who were allegedly supping with the former Vice President Joice Mujuru.
Despite having been stopped from showing a video ‘meant to expose members who had double standards’, Jaboon said it was his duty as the PC to expose members who were not loyal to the party. He said he was preparing to take the video to President Robert Mugabe so that those who offend the party would be punished.
Jaboon said he was tired of hiding behind the finger said it was now time of exposing those who have double standards.
“I am the political commissar for Masvingo and there is no way Hungwe can stop me. I am supposed to guard the party from being infiltrated so I will expose, without fear, all the activities that are against the party’s constitution. I have a video clip where party members attended a Mujuru secret meeting and I don’t know why he (Hungwe) would want those culprits being protected yet they should appear before our disciplinary team. I will make sure that the video reaches to President Robert Mugabe and no one will dare stop me,” said Jaboon.
However, Jaboon said he understood that Hungwe stopped him from showing a video in question because of time constraints during the meeting.
“I am sure the President deserve to know who is selling out to who and its my task to expose all those who pretend to be with us and yet they emerge to be spies,” added Jaboon.
Though Jaboon could not reveal the names of the party members he said were in the video he claimed to have, he vowed to take the clip to President Mugabe and said he will not rest until a disciplinary action is taken against the culprits.
“How can we focus with party business when we are working with enemies from within, leaders who have joined the opposition? With the evidence I have, all of them will be fired. They are obviously people of different agendas and goals so they should be fired from the party,” added Jaboon.
TellZim News understands that Jaboon was irked by the number of Zanu PF youths who attended People First meeting held in Bikita recently.
“No its not People First – to us its People Fired, they are disgruntled fired people who console each other at some meetings but when some of us go there – we must expose them and show them the exit door if need be,” said Jaboon.
Jaboon was left with an egg on the face during the Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) recently when Hungwe stopped him from playing a video clip in which the political commissar claimed that there were party members who were captured attending People First meeting.
Speaking to TellZim News two weeks ago, Hungwe said Masvingo party leadership needed to slow down in their approach to issues they were dealing with. Hungwe also admitted that he stopped Jaboon from showing the video clip in question saying the meeting was meant for discussing progress in the preparation of the 21st February cebrations to be hosted in the province next month.
However, last week, Hungwe told this publication that he would not comment on Jaboon’s intention to take the video clip to Mugabe.
“He has not informed me of his intention…I don’t know the contents of that clip therefore I can not comment,” said Hungwe.
