Mugabe was never legitimate leader – Uyoyo

Itai Muzondo
Former Zanu-PF Masvingo Women’s League Chairperson and Zimbabwe People First (Zim PF) member, Shylet Uyoyo last week said President Robert Mugabe has never been the people’s choice since he came into power.
Uyoyo, who is now the national women’s league secretary of ZimPF, was addressing a rally at Maungwa business centre in Gutu South.
She likened Mugabe to an inconsiderate father who does not care for his own family.
“Mugabe did not fight in the war; he was an outsider in its leadership. We knew Josiah Tongogara and Solomon Mujuru but he was forced upon us and people were then forced to vote for him in 1980,” Uyoyo said.
She said the people only voted for Mugabe not out of love for him but out of eagerness to get rid of colonial bondage.
“We were wrong to put him in power. I never imagined a president who lies, a president with no heart, a president who kills. He is only worried with safeguarding his family while the nation suffers,” Uyoyo said.
Retired Colonel Kudzai Mbudzi blasted Mugabe for making empty promises over the years.
“I was in the same plane with Mugabe when he returned from exile in 1980 and he made a lot of promises but has fulfilled none. If you are wise, why should you stick to him when the likes of us who were closer to him have given up,” said Mbudzi.
Another senior member of the party, Dzikamai Mavhaire said even the blind can now see that Mugabe has nothing to offer.
“Who is Mugabe to say Mujuru never went to war when she went to Mozambique in 1972 with Mugabe following later in 1976? He blames white people for the economic problems but no white person has ever flown to Zimbabwe to close shop. We are in this mess because of his misrule,” said Mavhaire.news

COPA Coca-Cola launched

Lloyd Shunje
The local football mother body Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and the National Association of School Heads (NASH) have warned against age cheating ahead of the Copa Coca-Cola Boys and Girls tournament next month.
Speaking at the launch of the tournament at Dewure High School last Friday, ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda said the football mother body will take decisive action against teams that falsify the ages of their players.
“Age cheating is cancer that is haunting our football badly in the country, NASH should
make sure that this is dealt with at this level.
“You should not punish the student for cheating but the system which encourages cheating that is the school and parents,” Sibanda added.
NASH President Johnson Madhuku said this year’s edition will involve strict vetting methods that have been put in place to curb age cheating in the tournament.
“We want to eradicate age cheating and make sure those with the right age participate. Players should have birth certificates obtained within the first seven years of birth,” said Madhuku.
“In addition all players should produce grade seven result slips and a team photo will also be produced that will have been used from the zonal level up to the final stage of the tournament,” added Madhuku.
The tournament, which will quick start on May 27 with zonal competitions across the country, will see Dewure High School’s under 16 boys’ team and Chidyamakono High school’s girls’ team going in as defending champions in the nationals that will be held in Gwanda’s Pelandaba stadium between 22 and 24 July.

Chidyamakono High’s under 17 girls’ team will go to the nationals as defending champions after dismissing St Francis by a goal to nil last ear to claim their third successive tittle in a row.

Masvingo UMC youth shine at Bulawayo choral competitions

Moses Ziyambi
The Masvingo Innercity and St Phillip youth choir groups last week displayed their singing talents with an outstanding performance at the Zimbabwe West Annual Conference (ZWAC) Choral Music Festival held at UMC Bethel congregation in Bulawayo.
Organised by the United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF), the competitions brought together a total of 33 choirs from all the six districts.
The Innercity choir made their debut in the prime Group A into which they were promoted and shrugged it out against 23 other choirs to emerge at number eight with the first, second and third positions going to Kuwadzana, Harare Innercity and Glenview respectively.
Newcomers St Phillip put out a splendid performance, battling eight other teams in group B to grab an impressive number three with number one going to Bindura while Mutoko’s Chinzanga settled at number two.
At number three, St Phillip have already secured their place at the upcoming Zimbabwe Episcopal Area conference choral competitions which will be held on July 9, 2016, in Waterfalls, Harare.
“We are pleased with the performance of our children; they represented us well in Bulawayo and they did their best to bring us proud,” said UMYF District Advisor Shailet Dumba.
The upcoming competitions will bring together all the 13 districts that fall under the UMC Zimbabwe Episcopal Area, meaning the going will be at its toughest for participants.
UMYF Cabinet Representative and UMC Masvingo District Superintendent, Reverand Jairous W. Mafondokoto said he looked forward for more exciting developments in July.
“I believe in the immense capabilities of our youth and we encourage them to continue singing for the Lord. I am confident they will not at all disappoint wherever they may go, no matter how stiff the competition gets,” said Rev Mafondokoto.news

Of the meaningless million-man march

Kkkkk Aaron Chiundura Moyo is indeed a prolific writer. His novel Nguwo dzeuswa speaks volumes about the country’s situation in the country. Hanzi matengumutinya nguwo dzeuswa kana wakadzisimira haukwanise kugara pasi; ukaramba wakamira makumbo anozvimba, ukada kudzimura moto dzinobatira uye kukapisa dzinososona kkkkkkkk sando kuna Chiundura Moyo.
Mapombi is not as learned as Cdes in government but nyika yava matengumutinya iyi – mamvemve akaonekwa naThomas Mapfumo. Our government is full of educated and learned people but nyika yava mamvemve! E-eh they are book worms – full of Doctors (PhDs) wozodeyi. Kkkkkkk kuti Dr Ignatious Chombo, Dr Obert Mpofu, Dr  Dofora – aah its Dokora, Dr Walter Mzembi, Dr Chidhakwa, Dr Made kkkk ndokudzidzaka uku amana. Hapana hapo chinozivikanwa asi vanhu vakadzidza ava. We also have Dr Grace Mugabe – ooh by the way she is not in government. Ko ivo varipiko Dr Amai these days – Mapombi avasuwa zvisingaite! Wish if I can meet Dr Gire, wish I had money to go with Dr Amai kudinner like Wicknell Chivhayo – you never know I might be given tender ndikatosiyana nekugara kuDr Grace Market Centre kunonhuwa uko.
Like Mapombi said, our government is full of educated people asi chokwadi ndechekuti hapana zvinozikanwa! They don’t even know where our $15 billion is and they are busy introducing Bond Notes to cover up – we want our $15 billion Cdes. We condemn corruption zvachose. Where is the police? We want to know what happened to our $15 billion.
By the way, does Masvingo province have uye unonzi kuPolice Officer Commanding Masvingo Province? Mapombi doubts very much –  or kana aripo then arikurara pabasa. Wake up shefu! It is very disturbing how police in Masvingo is so obsessed nenyaya dzekutorera vanhu mari paroadblock. They even changed terminology and those admission of guilty tickets vave kutomati mareceipts. Kkkkk hanzi icho chipipi chadarika icho wachipa here receipt yacho – nonsense! Are our roads are fast becoming fund raising platforms for our police? They don’t care about people’s lives as long mota dzapiwa mareceipts ivo vachiita mari. Honestly how can they allow a ramshackle vehicle to ply Mucheke/Rujeko – town route yakazara vanhu simply because yabhadhara ticket? So vanhu vofa nekuti mota yabhadhara ticket kuPolice? Are police tickets new motor vehicle fitness certificates because with a police ticket you can drive to anywhere uchingoriburitsa at any road block. Officer Commanding kana muriko wake up please.
Engineers have spoken about the Mucheke Bridge roadblock and they warned that the bridge will collapse if Police continue to conduct the roadblock there. Mapombi thinks you should read newspapers – even your Public Relations department should read newspapers too. Mucheke bridge is more important to the nation than the few dollars you are collecting from that roadblock. Accidents are happening at that bridge on a weekly basis thanks to the Police roadblock. Police Boss please tinyareiwo!
Anyway, what happened to this meaningless one million-man march? Kkkkkk Zanu-PF inombogumirwa vakomana! I know there are educated people in Zanu-PF from Doctors to Professors but kuzounganidza vanhu One million muHarare zvingabuda? We should pardon these guys because they might have mistaken the figures as you all know that age is fast catching up with most of the Cdes – vazhinji dzangova hari dzofanzirofa as Zhuwao rightfully said kuti ari kushanda nemadhara mucabinet umu.
Mapombi is very sure they wanted to say 100 000-man march not one million. Vanenge vakavhiringika pamazero apa – they should have consulted Dr Gideon Gono the man who knew how to slash zeros – kkkk musandifungisa 2008 veduwe because vanhu kwedu kwaChirimudombo vakaita kunhonga svosve nemuromo. Those Bearer cheques nxaa. Kutonyora kuti I promise to pay the bearer on demand – haiwawo musaramba muchitipedzere nguva yedu imi.
We know it’s just a matter of semantics – these so called Bond Notes are no different from the Bearer Cheques but be warned Cdes, dziva guru idiva kamwe ukadzoka kepiri unowana ngwena dzasvinura. Iiih nhasi zvangu nyaya yengwena yondotaura iyi ndichapinda busy neGeneration 40 (G40). Mapombi is not referring to Ngwena yeTeam Lacoste guys but ngwena, ngwena chaiyo yemudziva kani akomana. But Mapombi heard Team Lacoste iri pamahwani in Masvingo these days. Everyone is denouncing Team Lacoste. Kkkkkk zvinoita politics akomana.
If you want to survive in Zanu-PF, here are the few tips – know that Mugabe  is always right. Do not despise the First Family – Dr Gire havatukwe, Bona haatukwe, Robert Jnr naChatunga havatukwe. Just that! Period!
Also think of anything and say it’s a way of honouring President Mugabe or Dr Amai. Even naming Chitima market after Dr Grace Mugabe its fine. Don’t mind how stinking the place is – kkkk asi zvimwe munozonyanya veduwe Chitima nekunhuwa ikokuya nemaziplastic iwo aye kwava kutoti Dr Grace Market Centre ipo paye? Inga munomudzikisirawo Grace wacho – honestly that was a mockery and not an honour. Think of something even like 100 war vets marching to prop up support for President kkkkkkk but please not One million-man march haibudi tinozviziva.
Mapombi is very much aware that some media houses will lie today saying the one million-man march was a success but we all know the truth. People cannot be fooled anymore! Mboko imboko!!!news

Chiredzi man to publish second book

Increase Gumbo
Avery Candex, a budding motivational writer is set to publish his second book, which follows on the heels of the online publication of his first book last year.
Candex told TellZim News that his second book, Who Said You Can’t Be Successful, is a direct challenge to young people who tend to choose to remain idle in the face of current economic problems.
“The book is a question and an answer to the youth of today who kill their time drinking and abusing drugs. It is meant to uplift and motivate young people to take a stand and improve their lives,” said Candex.
Co-authored by Arnold Sibanda, a young entrepreneur and founder of Trenka DMT Holdings, a food processing company, the book is meant to develop and ignite the potential within the youth.
Candex, who grew up in Chiredzi, said he was inspired by motivational speaker, Arthur Marara.
The young writer’s dream started to materialise when an article he wrote was published in the Bridge section of the Sunday Mail, earning him respect a great school writer of that time.
After leaving school, he wrote a number of motivational articles which he posted online but it was only last year that he compiled those messages into a book titled Unlocking the Potential in You.
“In five years’ time, I believe I will have scaled whole new levels in my career but my ultimate goal is not self-satisfaction; I want people to look at me and say ‘because of you we have found a reason to keep trying'”.
“I know I can achieve that and I will be glad because I believe I am just but a vessel in the hands of the Almighty,” said Candex.news

Zaka district launches non-formal education

Brighton Chiseva
Deputy Provincial Education Director for Masvingo Diga Mandiudza last week presided over the official launch of non-formal education at Zaka Primary School, making Zaka district the first in the province to implement the project.
Speaking on behalf of Provincial Education Director Zedius Chitiga, Mandiudza said it was important to spread knowledge by making education more accessible to everyone.
“Because of its crucial role in our ministry, Zaka district has seen it worthy to launch the policy in a bid to transmit information to everyone in the district,” said Mandiudza.
He said non-formal education will provide basic literacy, functional literacy, Zimbabwe Adult Basic Education Course (ZABEC) as well as open and distance learning.
“It is my sincere hope that the implementation of the non-formal education policy shall yield best results in Zaka district,” he said.
Mandiudza urged school heads to implement the initiative at their schools with urgency.
“If I get to your school and find you haven’t introduced non-formal education you will be held accountable,” warned Mandiudza.
He urged the local traditional leadership to encourage their people to take advantage of the new programme to improve their lives.
“Tell your people to go for non-formal education because if they do not, munotambura nekutonga mhosva (you will have trouble presiding over endless crime).
Chief Ndanga, Reuben Chimedza said people must utilise the opportunity to go to school and report those who prevent others from exploiting the initiative.
“Ndichatonga vasingaendi kana vanokonesa vamwe kuenda (I will summon all those who do not go or who stop others from going)” Chief Ndanga said.news

Raw sewage flood Mandava

Davison Marenga
Mandava, one of Zvishavane’s oldest suburbs is sitting on a health time bomb as raw effluent has become a common feature in almost every corner, at some points forming smelly pools across the rugged streets of the high-density suburb.
The disgusting sewage rivulets seem to disappear for a day or two when council makes some token interventions only to re-surface for a lengthy period, much to the annoyance of residents.
People who spoke to this publication said they were not convinced council was doing enough to rectify the problem; saying instead of directing resources to overhauling the ageing sewer infrastructure, attention was being given to less important issues.
“We now fear for our children who are constantly exposed to infection by contaminated sewerage water which has now become a common sight,” said one resident of Mandava.
The sewage at times flows right in front of backyard food outlets behind the ‘Mudhadhadha’ shops, a situation that worries the residents.
“May the responsible authorities quickly take measures because it is not good to always frog jump pools of sewage close to food outlets,” said Cliff Mutenda who stays in the same suburb.
The poorly maintained roads in the town have not helped matters, with sewage forming small pools in the potholes.
Authorities attribute the rot to a surge in population growth; a development which they say has put too much pressure on the ageing infrastructure which has seen little or no maintenance and replacement since it was laid during the colonial era.news

EMA orders Chiredzi to establish new dumpsite

Increase Gumbo
Barely two months after being slapped with a US$3000 fine by the Environmental Management Agency for improper refuse disposal, Chiredzi Town Council has now been given a two months ultimatum to establish a new dumpsite.
Provincial Environmental Manager, Robson Mavondo said Chiredzi must expeditiously move to build a proper landfill site since the town has been operating without rubbish disposal site.
“We are aware of Chiredzi’s situation and we fined them US$3000 for dumping their litter everywhere but we now want them to come up with a proper landfill within two and a half months and failure of which will result in serious action being taken,” said Mavondo.
He scoffed at the council’s excuses that they do not have enough land to establish a proper dumpsite.
“We have done everything and we have approached the council several times on the issue but they have not been forthcoming,” said Mavondo.
Currently, council dumps garbage mainly close to the Chiredzi Cemetery, which has provoked the ire of residents and members of apostolic sects that congregate close to the place for their church services.
“The council has to change its dumping habits as they pose a health hazard to worshippers who congregate there. They are making the place stinky and uncomfortable for worshipping,” said Patrick Nyoni a member of the Johane Masowe weChishanu church.
Nyoni also said that at one time they approached the council over the issue but they were ignored.news
